And by the way, where is Clyde when you need him to make the call?????

It doesn't look like a foul to me, but I can certainly see why the official blew his whistle.

Unfortunate that it came down to this, but it's not as bad as some of the posts made it sound.

I agree with you 100%.

I guess when the entire game of horrible calls throughout the game going both ways builds up to (3) controversial calls at end of the game, that's why everyone was about to blow a gasket and booed the refs out of the gym. But it's over, that's sports and that's life. The only thing anyone can hope for is whoever assigns officials they'll take this game a little more serious and assign refs with more experience and possibly a third ref.

Congrats to Cov Cath! and Congrats to Boone County with the most improved team I've seen this year!

Agreed CP. Championship games deserve high ranked officials. Hypothetical, does that official make that same call if CCH is leading by 9?

I agree on the third ref for the JV tourney games.

Did the Boone defender affect the CCH player's rhythm, speed, balance or quickness?

If I'm a defender, isn't it my objective to affect your rhythm?

I am guessing most will see the truth, which is that whistle should have never been blown. Too good of a game to have a ref determine the outcome. Both teams fought hard and CovCath got the home court call IMO.

I am guessing most will see what they want to see but the ref made a real time call. Mighty tough one at that.

Players reach all the time. That was not a foul. I heard CovCath fans telling people that I was sitting by that they "homered a win" in the JV final. I don't know about the "homer" job, but if fans are saying that, most probably realize that a foul should not have been called on that play. Let the two teams finsish a great game! CovCath doesn't deserve to have a championship based on a "homer" call. Too good of a game.

How / why would that have been a jump ball? It was definitely not a jump ball.

Probably not a foul either, but there's no denying the fact that #33 reached.

Ohhh, really good question. Very nice to ponder. Congrats to CCH and Boone for a well played game, and congrats to CCH JV! If my memory is right, didnt many of those same kids win the Freshman title last year. If so, they are feeling great and the future appears bright.

But when it is a play where a kid may have lifted his pivot foot as he turned to throw a pass to someone 25 feet from the basket ...

No rule in the book that says you cannot lift your pivot foot.

Did the Boone defender affect the CCH player's rhythm, speed, balance or quickness?

None of those by themselves or in any combination make a foul.

I was talking to an official who said that the Boone players should have been allowed to sub even though no time went off the clock. The only rule about time running off of the clock is for the player who was subbed for. If the Boone subs had not been taking out at the dead ball that resulted in the throw-in then they should have been allowed to enter. Any player that is subbed for must sit out a tick of the clock before re-entering.

So CovCath won it only to get beat by SK tonight in JV and Varsity game. :D

But it gets called a walk all the time. I had a move I liked to use when I played and because I lifted my pivot foot it was called a walk a lot by officials.

The traveling call in high school is gaining fast on the charging call as the most abused call by high school officials.
