Looks like it was a great game. Congrats to both teams and of course especially to Covington Catholic on winning it all.

 

It seems like Boone's JV is in this title game every year. Or is my memory playing tricks on me? Does anyone know the winners of the JV title over the past few years? It would be interesting to see if there is any correlation between a winning JV team and a winning varsity team.

I think it might have been Conner and Holy Cross in the jv championship last year.

Conner did win it last year, but I don't think you can make any correlation to Varsity teams since the life of any team is one season. Players quit, teams get transfers, coaches come and go, etc...........Also, JV teams have lots of different classes and makeups. Some are younger and some are heavy with juniors due to a log jam of seniors on the Varsity squad.

It's a shame the game ended the way it did. Ref called foul on Boone kid with no time left and the game was tied. Both sides said player did not foul. CC player hit first free throw to win game. The Cov Cath team didn't even celebrate. The refs really did take away from a great game. Sad for all the players involved on both sides. Some crazy calls on both sides in this game. Everyone should listen to CC internet broadcast of the end of this game and you'll hear out it played out. Cov Cath coaches were very apologetic. I wish the ref assigner put more value in this championship game and would assign 2 or 3 very experienced refs so this isn't how a game of this caliber pans out. Very sad for all involved with so much time committed to a long season of games and practices.

I did video tape the final 3 wild calls in this game and hopefully I can figure out how to post them here. A lot happened in 4.4 seconds. It's very interesting.

Boone has been in championship JV game 3 of last 4 years winning 2 titles. No varsity 9th region titles though in past 4 years.

The travel call was clear cut. The foul was prior to the horn, but you will have to make the call once you see the video.

I agree with travel call 100%. What about not allowing Boone players to sub since CC threw ball out of bounds without anyone touching it. Is that correct call? I have no idea and neither did refs. I heard ref say "I'm pretty sure this is how it's handled."
