If you could average 3.33 mph, and take a 15 minute rest every 10 miles you could cover 73.8 miles in 24 hrs.

I don't know if you could keep up that pace very long. Those of you saying you could cover more than 50 miles (other than the very few that are trained for this type of thing) I think are really underestimating how tough this would be to keep up for 24 hours.

There's no doubt it would be tough.

Think about this. You walk at 4 mph. You walk 45 mins rest 15 mins for 24 hours straight. This would mean you would walk for 18 hours and rest for a total of 6. This would put you at 72 miles.

You did that?!?!

fkw, I wish but it is on my bucket list! Just re-iterating that people underestimate the toll that would be taken on the body, even walking. I think the record for Badwater is 22 hours for the 135 miles. Obviously different terrain but continuous movement for 24 hours would be tough!

I think the first 8 hours, easily done. The 15 min. rest will start to catch up at the breaks and the joints will start stiffing up, making it harder and harder to go for another 45. But.....Money is the wildcard......If needed it will make you do things you normally would or could not do.

In thinking about it I would probably shoot to take in 350-500 calories an hour to maximize my effort. That is about 8,400-12,000 calories total. You have to train your body to get used to taking in that much. A lot of people would struggle with this 7, 8, 9 hours in to the jaunt.

I'd say, about a foot and a half...given favorable winds.

The WS100 is~ 15 hours. Besides Bugatti I honestly don't think anyone in here can top 100.

I was at Quest Outdoors a little bit ago and they were showing a really cool movie about the Western States 100 for the people who are running Louisville Lovin' The Hills tomorrow ( 15 mile or 50K trail race done in Jefferson Memorial). The 15 minutes I saw of the movie was really awesome.

Unbreakable: The Western States 100

For me, I'm going to say 70. Usually walk 3 1/2 to 4 in an hour , so I'll round that down to 70. On a good day, with Alieve and bourbon.

In 24 hours I could.

Isn't that hard to say knowing little to nothing about most of the people here? I'm not saying they could, but I can't say that they couldn't either.

I don't know how many I could run/walk in 24 hours and I never will know because I will never attempt it. I love working out and exercising. I hate running.

I am doing a tough mudder later this year though, which is probably a bad idea .

In 24 hours I could.

If my boy says he can top 100 he can top 100.
