I think I could sit and listen to Winters and Guarnere talk for hours/possibly days on their experiences. I wouldn't even need to speak, just let those two go back and forth. I'd sit back and enjoy a few beers and just listen.

 

Dr. Jerome V. Reel is my Fraternity's International Historian. I've had a a chance to interact with him a little while I worked for my HQ, but would enjoy a full dinner with him. He's getting up there in years and I'm afraid he won't be around to much longer. I wanted to pick one person that was a little more personable to me.

 

I know Coach Cal is sort of random, but I think I'd really get along with him and I'd love to chat about basketball, recruiting, his favorite books and really anything.

No doubt, one of my favorite experiences of all time was when I was in Germany. My uncle lives in Heidelberg and one day we went out in the country and visited many WWII-related things. As a very special treat they brought along some family friends to help explain the significance of what we went to. One of these people was the father of my uncle's friend. He was in his '70's and lost one brother due to bombings by the Allied Foreces and another when Hitler invaded the Soviet Union. We stopped for lunch and while drinking insanely good German beer we listened as he told us stories for two hours. An amazing experience and one I'll never forget.

I think the legend goes that Teddy asked Muir to show him the "real Yosemite" and then they backpacked for several days. That would be an amazing trip.

One name I seriously considered and thought might get mentioned is Malcolm Gladwell. In recent non-fiction his work has made me think more so than any other. Very brilliant man and a unique way to look at things.
