The thing is, the call on Osi wasn't even close to a penalty. Troy Aikman and Joe Buck agreed that it was garbage. As did Mike Periera. No one thought it was a good call.

Guess how many teams who won the Super Bowl had top 10 defenses during that span? 8 out of the last 10 were in the top 10. Do you want to know where Green Bay ranked last year in scoring offense and scoring defense? They finished 10th in scoring offense, and 2nd in scoring defense. So their defense was even better than their offense when they won the Super Bowl. This year their defense was not very good and now they are sitting at home. So are people still wanting to argue that having a top offense is even more important? Having both are important, however having a top defense with an offense that is at least average or better than average has shown to be even better for making runs to win the Super Bowl. To be fair, rankings mean very little. The Giants defense was ranked 29th in the NFL I believe.
January 16, 201214 yr I could see if the horrendous calls came on touchdown plays but they didn't. To say they led to touchdowns is erroneous. They kept touchdown drives alive but the defense didn't leave the field and failed to stop them after both of the horrendous calls. The blame of the refs falls on keeping the drive alive not the touchdowns. If the refs didn't overturn the fumble the Packers would not have scored. The Giants defense did their job, stopped the Packers and took the ball away. The Packers have a great offense...stopping them once is amazing, but when you give them a second chance at scoring it's even harder. The penalty was also huge, considering it would have been 4th and 10. Instead they got 15 yards and a 1st down. The refs deserve less blame for that touchdown because Green Bay would have had an opportunity for a first down on the next play. But the without the overturned fumble, the Packers would not have scored on that drive.

Stats from NFL.com I didn't think futurecoach had his stats correct. I haven't been home to look it up.

To me the biggest difference was their inability to pressure the QB. That was glaring on Sunday every Giant's 3rd down play. Did Clay Matthews even play this season?

Their inability to cover receivers was glaring on 3rd down as well. I think they were near the top of takeaways in 2010 also but at least they got off the field. I probably watched Green Bay play more than anyone else(I don't have Sunday ticket) and their defense sucked all year. Never got off the field. Clay Matthews tweeted a picture of his foot last night and it was white and purple. I don't see how these guys play when hey are so banged up like that. It was pretty bad. But yeah, he was out there but nothing like his 2010 self. Not making excuses I am just amazed at how banged up these guys are and still playing. Astonishing.
