January 16, 201214 yr Author This really is a shock because as I keep hearing it is much more important to have a top high scoring offense these days than a good defense. Yet every year we see top scoring offenses get knocked out when they don't have defense. While we see teams with top defenses, but just average to good offenses usually make good runs in the playoffs. However playing top 10 defenses don't matter, because they aren't as hard to beat hahahaha.

That is why the Colts only won one title, and that was mainly because their defense played like a top 10 defense in the playoffs for a change. The same with the Saints, and even Green Bay last year. For a top offense to win a super bowl, they have needed their defenses to play like top 10 defenses in the playoffs. Shoot I think the best team to look at is the Pats. They have had Brady but they won their three Super Bowls behind great defense and having Brady just making the clutch plays when needed. Since they have become such a high power offense they have yet to win a Super Bowl. That may change this year, but we will see.
January 16, 201214 yr Author Sorry for all that, however I must admit I have loved seeing these top offenses with bad defenses fall this weekend. Considering the things that been discussed on here. It was a great win today by the Giants they completely outplayed the Packers all day. Green Bay had two very lucky breaks that went there way that they scored touchdowns on or else it would have been really ugly. Their first touchdown drive they had a fumble which for some reason was not overturned. Then their last touchdown came on a bogus roughing the passer penalty. Giants defense played great today, they made plays, put pressure on Rodgers, played great coverage. I know they had a lot of drops too, but the way the Giants played defense today made Rodgers miss some throws we never see him miss.

January 16, 201214 yr Author New England has one of the worst D's in the league. They've been lit up all year. Yes I know this, and that is why I said we will see what happens with them. Their one game in the playoffs this year, came against a team who had their two starting safeties out. Then the Pats defense had to go against a guy who has completed less than 50% of his passes in like 4 straight games, and maybe more. The defense looked better this game, however their defense will have to play well again next week.

January 16, 201214 yr I'd love to see the stats on qbs that don't play week 17 and how they do in the playoffs. Seems like they always lose when teams rest players.
January 16, 201214 yr As much as the Giants deserved the win, the Packers beat themselves, the dropped passes, turnovers, and all the miscues you would have thought this team had no playoff experience.. Props to the Giants for executing though.
January 16, 201214 yr I'll also say the Greg Jennings non-fumble and that roughing the passer on Rodgers were some of the worst calls I've seen all year.
