January 15, 201214 yr How many non-con road games did Connecticut play last year? 1, against Texas. We went through the past 10 national champions in a previous thread. Jim does not acknowledge that because it weakens his argument. In case you missed it. 2011 Connecticut - Texas 2010 Duke - Wisconsin, Georgetown 2009 North Carolina - UC Santa Barbara, Nevada 2008 Kansas - Southern Cal, Georgia Tech, Boston College 2007 Florida - Florida State, Florida A&M 2006 Florida - Providence, Miami 2005 North Carolina - Indiana, Connecticut 2004 Connecticut - Rice, North Carolina 2003 Syracuse - Michigan St. 2002 Maryland - Oklahoma

That tells me they should be taking a different path than everyone else. And besides, shouldn't the alleged kingpin of college hoops be staking out a different path than everyone else? Or is Kentucky not really all that special?
January 15, 201214 yr I honestly don't think any team in the SEC is licking their chops to get a piece of this team . Today's result says otherwise, given how ordinary this star-studded team looked.
January 15, 201214 yr How many non-con road games did Connecticut play last year? So Kentucky should follow UConn's path? Is that what the alleged kingpin of college hoops does -- follow the crowd?
January 15, 201214 yr Seriously, are you going to go to the grave with this one??? Mentally tough teams win games when it matters. Last year's team got hot and was mentally tough down the stretch. Tell Josh Harrelson he wasn't mentally tough going up against Sulinger from OSU or Henson from UNC. For real, your trying to pair OOC games with mental toughness? Your lost. Wouldn't it have been better to play OSU and UNC later on instead of having to go through a murderer's row just to get to the Final Four? An extra road challenge in November or December might have prevented six losses against low-rent SEC teams and led to a No. 1 seed, thereby paving an easier path to a national championship.
January 15, 201214 yr I believe Jim attended the ukfan#1 School of Controversial Posting over the holidays. School mission statement: Let no fact get in the way of a good argument.
January 15, 201214 yr So Kentucky should follow UConn's path? Is that what the alleged kingpin of college hoops does -- follow the crowd? It was just a question Jim. There wasn't an agenda behind it. I just wanted a means of comparison.
January 15, 201214 yr I love MKG. My favorite Wildcat of all-time. And this is why. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was angry after he and fellow freshman Anthony Davis didn't get much help from their Kentucky teammates in the first half against Tennessee. He made sure the Wildcats knew it at halftime. "He was the main one who came into the locker room mad," Davis said. "(He was) really feisty because we weren't playing like we were supposed to. That's just how he plays. You know he's got a will to win, and he brings a lot." His anger inspired the second-ranked Wildcats, who wore the Volunteers down with more pressing defense and sharper shooting. Kentucky overcame an eight-point deficit in the second half for a 65-62 victory Saturday. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=320142633 If Miller would learn to play like MKG, the Wildcats wouldn't struggle to beat bad SEC teams on the road. Absolutely love MKG.
January 15, 201214 yr Just for fun I looked up the schedules for every Final Four team of the past decade: 2011 UConn-1 (1 vs top 25) Butler-3 UK-2 (1 vs top 25) VCU-4 2010 Duke-1 Butler-4 West Virginia-3 (1 vs top 25) Michigan St.-3 (2 vs top 25) 2009 UNC-2 Michigan St.-1 UConn-2 (1 vs top 25) Villanova-2 2008 Kansas-3 (1 vs top 25) Memphis-1 UCLA-1 UNC-3 2007 Florida-2 OSU-2 (2 vs top 25) UCLA-0 Georgetown-3 (1 vs top 25) 2006 Florida-2 UCLA-1 LSU-2 George Mason-4 2005 UNC-1 Illinois-1 UL-2 Michigan St.-1 2004 UConn-2 (1 vs top 25) Georgia Tech-3 Duke-2 (1 vs top 25) Oklahoma St.-1 2003 Syracuse-0 Kansas-1 (1 vs top 25) Marquette-2 Texas-1 (1 vs top 25) 2002 Maryland-1 (1 vs top 25) Indiana-3 Kansas-4 (2 vs top 25) Oklahoma-2 (1 vs top 25) 79 road games from 40 seasons. Less than 2 per year. 17 vs ranked opponents. There may be a few extra or a few less (ESPN has neutral court games listed as home/away instead of listing them as neutral so I had to look at what arena each game was played at).
January 15, 201214 yr As I said before: None of those teams are Kentucky. That tells me they should be taking a different path than everyone else. And besides, shouldn't the alleged kingpin of college hoops be staking out a different path than everyone else? Or is Kentucky not really all that special? Kentucky should follow the path that leads to the best results. There is NOTHING that supports your argument other than your opinion that says that the path that leads to the most success is a brutal out of conference schedule filled with road games.
January 15, 201214 yr Kentucky should follow the path that leads to the best results. There is NOTHING that supports your argument other than your opinion that says that the path that leads to the most success is a brutal out of conference schedule filled with road games. If Kentucky is the "greatest program in college basketball," it should be forging its own path and forcing others to follow its lead.
January 15, 201214 yr Absolutely love MKG. You're not alone. I love watching him. My favorite UK player since Chuck Hayes.
January 15, 201214 yr If Kentucky is the "greatest program in college basketball," it should be forging its own path and forcing others to follow its lead. But why do that when history shows that it has absolutely no effect on postseason success? Kentucky has become arguably the greatest program in college basketball by being successful in the NCAA tournament. People remember who wins in March and April, not who plays the toughest non-conference schedule. It would be change for change's sake and, according to every fact I've found on the subject, would not lead to anymore success. There's no point.
January 15, 201214 yr You're not alone. I love watching him. My favorite UK player since Chuck Hayes. We found something we can agree on, amazingly.
January 15, 201214 yr Can't help but think an extra road test or two before Christmas would've led to a lot less squirming on the part of you Wildcat fans as you watched this game. Kentucky should've beaten this team by 20, whether the officiating was bad or not. :deadhorse: Getting really old Jim. Seriously.
