Smoking marijuana may not be harmful to your lungs.

Featured Replies

In my own personal belief and opinion (through experiences) from things I have read, studied, watched, etc. I feel marijuana should be bundled more with alcohol, nicotine, and caffeine rather than heroin, cocaine, and meth. Studies have actually shown that all three, nicotine, caffeine, and alcohol are all more harmful to your health than casual marijuana use. It's sad that so many people still think it's such a harmfully evil drug.

I have kind of been under the belief that the reason is it is pushed in the latter category because from my understand if you look at the two groups: The first it is easy to measure the potency of the substance, while in the second group it is much more difficult. It is hard to measure the potency of marijuana, so it falls in the latter category.

That's because the summary was written during a break for munchies. They've been trying to complete the report for the last 15 years, but they kept running out of rolling papers. The only reason it got finished now, was because somebody found a bong.

I've always said the bong is the most productive way to smoke marijuana.

The problem here is that the bong was on the coffee table the whole time.

Possibly, but now most medical marijuana dispenceries test their own marijuana and label the THC content on all their products. Marijuana has two major substances, THC and CBD. The THC is the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana that gives you what people call "the high" (although in reality getting high actually is just pretty much chilling out and getting relaxed and not some space trip psychadelic esque trip like most assume) the CBD's are what's going to help with pain relief, cramps, things of that nature. Most all medical marijuana facilities measure and display THC % levels and any present CBD levels. Using THC levels is generally the way most people measure a marijuana strains potency.

I think the problem lies more in that in the past the government has told its citizens pot is this horribly bad plant that can cause major heath defects. For some reason it has made more sense for them to ignore all the information coming from the marijuana reform movement and continue to say it is this toxic drug. The pill form of marijuana/THC (Marinol) has not been placed in the same category as harmful illegal drugs by the FDA, still the government insists on grouping the plant form of marijuana with other major narcotics. Furthermore, thanks to FDA regulations Marinol will have a stated THC content level so it too can be used to measure potency. With that said I think it just boils down to a matter of the government just looking the other way and continue to classify with harder drugs instead of lesser drugs such as nicotine and caffeine.

Inhaling smoke= not good for your lungs. I didn't even need to read the article.

Obviously any type of smoke entering the lungs isn't necessarily healthy. However, marijuana smoke doesn't cause "black lungs" or lung cancer such as cigarette smoke. You.re correct, you don't need to read an article to know that inhaling heated plant matter has it's effects on the lungs.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm not a scientist. But could that possibly be because cigarette users typically inhale smoke at a much higher rate than marijuana users?

Maybe I could ask Dre Kirkpatrick. Our first round draft pick who just got arrested for 20 grams. Now is 20 grams a lot?

Well if someone could tell how many ounces that is i might be able to give some sort of answer.

Nevermind I googled it. It's not thaaaaaat much really, and I would just assume it's just for his own recreational use. Depending on where he was and what he was doing it is still a decent amount to have on him. Probably just a fun time gone wrong though.

He had about 3/4 of an ounce(approximately $100-150 worth). I'd say it was recreational however he may sell 'dimes' or 'twenties' which are $10 and $20 worth. 3/4 is a decent amount for a college student to be walking around with. Unless you are going really hard you won't smoke that in a night and if you let people know you have that much then you better be prepared to puff puff give. If it is just a few people then you'd fall asleep between 1/8-1/2 of it unless you just have iron lungs or are tripping off acid. That being said he was probably showing off and got irresponsible and got caught. Dummy.

20 grams isn't a whole whole lot, could be even less depending on the grade of the marijuana. In weight 20 grams is a little over a half ounce (14 grams), so I guess 20g would be almost 3/4 an ounce since a whole O is 28 grams. If this is "regular" marijuana then not a whole lot, could probably be smoked with a few buddies in a week easy at the most. If this is "hydro" (dro) or medical grade marijuana 20 grams becomes a lot more based on the potency of the weed. 20 grams of dro is going to get you further than 20 grams of reg.

Either way not a whole whole lot. I think the law that was passed in Kentucky back in July states you can have up to 8 ounces on your personal and it still be only misdemeanor charges if any charges at all. Has to all be together though, cannot be seperated, if seperate then trafficking charges could be brought. So in the grand scheme and with Kentucky's current law the 20 grams Dre got caught with is less that 1/8 the amount your legally able to get in serious trouble for marijuana possession. Seems like recreational use to me, but like I said if this is "dro" the intent could quite possibly be to sale. An eigth of "dro" (1/8 of an ounce or 3.5 grams) could sale for $60+ bucks on the street. Compared to the same amount of "regular" which would only sale for around 20 bucks on the street. It is conceivable he could be selling dro but to me it seems like recreational use.

Thanks, he was with a former player who was driving and got pulled over for a lane issue, wrong one. They had a dog whose job was to sniff out cars and the dog did his job. Dre said it wasn't his and that his buddy had bought it and he didn't know....His bail was $120.00

So when he goes for his NFL interview at the workouts..."Dre Whats up? You wanna go pee in this jar for us?" He is a good kid, but he made a mistake.

^ They don't care about that. How many NFL players test positive for drugs?
