After watching the video, I think that her demeanor is pretty downtrodden, actually. Several factors are likely at play, including her husband's death, PTSD from the events of the night in question here, and maybe even some post-partum depression. She's been through a lot

 

For the record, from the reports I've seen of the story, there's certainly nothing I can fault her for in her decision. It just wouldn't be a decision I would make, because I wouldn't have the gun there to use. I definitely would have called 911. But after that, I probably would have crept around the house and woke up the dog and taken him with me to the door to surprise the intruders.

 

For those wondering where the dog was, maybe he was like both of my dogs at the times of the intrusions in my home...sound asleep and snoring in the bed with me. :lol:

 

The first time my home was broken into, my daughter was about 20 months old, and my son was only about 2 months old. I had a cocker spaniel. The last time, my kids were teens, but my son was away for the weekend, and my daughter wasn't home yet from an outing with her friends. Lucky Dog was about 8 months old, and was sound asleep in bed with me.

German Shepherds can actually be pretty timid. Look at the picture that you posted of her with the dog. That dogs ears are pinned down. Meaning he's not liking what he is seeing and wants to be out of there. I've had two German Shepherds, I feel pretty qualified in their mannerisms.

Seemed to me she had a lot of stress in her voice during the 911 call. Not yelling doesn't equate to calm.

So what you are saying is that you shouldn't mess with a mother of an infant who is probably sleep deprived and whose husband just died and suddenly there is two creepers trying to bust her doors down. Pretty sure I'd be in no mood to mess around if I were in her shoes. Wait until you have a child, those first two months or so are brutal. Your a walking zombie.

Mom, I hope it wasn't me you were referring to. While I was joking, I was serious in content. It kinda unnerves me to think you'd be helpless. No protection for yourself at all.

Are we sure that's not a new dog in the pics? They said they found 2 of her dogs deads recently before the incident.

You still haven't said where I posted anything that was incorrect. I already said he voted against it. However, you made an assumption that he voted for it because he didn't want ANYONE to be able to defend themselves. There is no proof of that.

Well, in both instances where someone broke into my home, I was there. The first time, I heard them, and as I exited my bedroom they scrambled out my kitchen window, albeit already haven taken out a lot of my stuff. The second time, I slept right through it.

Maybe if you had a gun the first time, there may not have been a second time?

Two different places some 15 years apart. Doubt they were related. And I completely slept through the second one. It would have happened.

The option to shoot them is not an option for me. What is so hard to understand about that? I don't, and will not, own a gun. I'd have to find another method. I do have a Louisville Slugger handy. I wouldn't go down without a fight. But I don't have a gun. And even if I did, by the time I found it, found the ammo and got it loaded, I doubt it would help anyway.
