You still haven't said where I posted anything that was incorrect. I already said he voted against it. However, you made an assumption that he voted for it because he didn't want ANYONE to be able to defend themselves. There is no proof of that.

RM, I do not own any firearms at home, either. I'm a terrible shot, and would be very concerned about a stray bullet going through a wall and hitting my children. I keep a silver Easton at bedside, and an old Black Magic in the hall, and I have two ornery labradors on the prowl out back. I weigh 300 lbs and was an all-conference home run king in college and would be much better suited in close combat.

My position isn't that I'm against gun ownership. My position is that I feel many people have guns and have no respect for owning them safely. It thoroughly disgusts me to hear of gun "accidents" involving children. In my opinion, those should be very rarely heard of. What leads to these "accidents" is lack of safety measures on the part of the parents/owners (if not the parents).

 

Maybe some don't think there are that many reports of such instances, but I could rattle off about 6-10 right off the top of my head that happened within the last year, in my city.

I'm actually a good shot. Won a marksman award once with a rifle. Never have used a hand gun. And shot guns are just torture for me. :lol:

I wish people would understand that not having a gun doesn't mean passiveness. I don't think many people would call me passive. :lol: There are other means of self-defense and protection. And I am actually kind of proud that I know those and could use them if necessary and do not have to rely on a fire arm to make me feel safe.

 

But...in defense of passiveness, many an opossum has lived because they played dead. I'm just sayin....

Thank you. That post backs up exactly what I said. He voted against a bill that said IF your town has a gun ban you get a free pass if its in self-defense. That same vote implies that he is FOR the rights of self defense in towns where there is no gun ban.

I own several guns but they are all in my Granddaddy's gun cabinet in rural LaRue County. Here in Louisville I have a big dog that can sound really mean and doesn't sleep through disturbances but no Louisville Slugger.

 

My roommate from time-to-time has hunting rifles and shotguns up here. But not on a consistent basis.

I have a gun hidden in a clock next to my bed. For a time just like this article talks about.
