Michigan 23 Virginia Tech 20 (OT)

Great game absolutely ruined by officials. The kid from VT makes a great catch which was a catch. His elbow hits the ground and he maintains the catch with his arm under the ball. It gets overturned. I hate officials, there idiots. I'm not a VT fan, just not a fan of bad officiating that ruins games.

The ball clearly hit the ground. Not a catch.

Can kickers get false starts? If so, Michigan's kicker should have got one on the last kick.

VT had plenty of opportunities earlier in the game. Too many mistakes.

That was garbage. Even the announcers agreed it was a catch which is rare. It's a shame they don't let the kids play. VTech dominated and for the 1st time I ever remember got outplyed on special teams.

No way. Slow it down. I went 1/15 speed. I thought the ball to hit the ground. Some how his off arm knocks it up into the other arm. That arm is under the ball. The ground doesn't help in catching the ball. I'm not sure about the kickers and false starts. I would assume so since everyone else can and you can not be going forward at the snap.

VT blew it for sure. Just hate that it ended like that.

You have your opinion and I have mine. I watched the replay a number of times. The nose of the ball hit the ground, IMO.

VaTech deserved to lose when they played for the FG at the end of regulation instead of going for the touchdown. As for that catch, I thought it was a catch too. Even though it hit the ground, it looked like he maintained possession throughout. However, I don't think the elbow touching first meant anything other than being in-bounds.

Let's see if any of the remaining 6 teams learn from these last few games. You cannot play conservative when you have a chance to win the game. It has cost Stanford and Georgia so far.

The ball can hit the ground and still be ruled a catch. It's not an automatic incompletion.

As for the false start, I was wondering the same. He did it the entire game.

Glad that Michigan got the win and I'm not a fan of either. The catch at the end of the game was tough to call, but the Hokies had plenty of chances earlier on. I know that the game was close, but I still feel that VT didn't belong.

If that was a catch I'm the Queen of England.

Maybe or maybe not. However the rule for instant replay is that it has to be 100% proof to overturn a call, and I definitely do think there is 100% proof to overturn the call which was a catch. To many times refs don't follow what the actual rules of instant replay are.

He was in a hurry all night. That's what led to the crazy "fake" FG in the first half I do believe. It appeared he fell forward too soon and then had no choice.

Absolutely. That has happened numerous times this season and twice in the last two nights. When you have an opportunity to win the game, you must take that opportunity.

That catch/no catch was one of the toughest calls to make that I have ever seen. It looked to me like the nose of the ball hit the ground. That is why I assumed it was overruled and called no catch. However, if nees1212 is correct that it can still be ruled a catch if the ball hits the ground, then I would go with that being a catch. The receiver clearly had his hands/arms around the ball through the whole play. I would be interested in hearing the official explanation of why it was ruled no catch.
