December 27, 201114 yr At least he's good for one sector of the economy.. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/dec/22/firing-back-at-gun-control/ Mr. Obama’s anti-gun beliefs have sparked a steady increase in firearm sales since he took office. “Better buy it now while I still can,” millions are thinking. Americans who report having a gun in the home in the past year have risen from 41 percent to 47 percent, the highest ever recorded, according to Gallup.
December 27, 201114 yr Could more people be buying guns because the world we live in simply isn't safe anymore?
December 27, 201114 yr Could more people be buying guns because the world we live in simply isn't safe anymore?I work in the industry, I hear the chatter all the time. It's more Obama and the the Democrats view of guns and gun ownership than anything else. They really don't trust him or the Democrats overall.

They really don't trust him or the Democrats overall. I don't doubt it. My naïveté to politics doesn't allow me to believe that Obama and the Crats can get rid of the right to bear arms. Wouldn't that be something that Congress has to go along with?

Wouldn't that be something that Congress has to go along with? There's other ways. Regulation, especially to the point of making guns and/or ammo too expensive is one thing that's in their cross-hairs (pun intended). They certainly want to bring back the "assault weapons" ban they had in the past and I'm sure they'll be looking to take that even farther.

Even when they controlled both houses of congress?
December 27, 201114 yr What have they done in three years to limit rights? Even when they controlled both houses of congress?Nothing, he/they had other priorities at the time, but if you think that won't change in the next four if he gets reelected, you're kidding yourself. With the way the economy has been, going after guns would do him in at the next election. He's a politician, he knows when to pull back on the reins. It's the next four years that the Obama people were afraid they would get will likely get.
December 27, 201114 yr What have they done in three years to limit rights? Even when they controlled both houses of congress? During Obama's tenure, you can now carry firearms in state parks. That's the only change that I know of. Yes, that is, you now CAN carry firearms in state parks.
December 27, 201114 yr Author There are plenty of examples of how the Obama administration is exploring ways to bypass Congress and enact gun control through executive action.
December 27, 201114 yr If I owned a gun shop I, too, would be screaming about that Commie Nigerian wanting to take away guns from hard-working Americans. I'd then just watch those that don't think for themselves flock to my store. No way to support it though. Brady group gave President Obama a "F." NRA fiction.
December 27, 201114 yr Author Obama has assured Brady that he is working on gun control "under the radar."
December 27, 201114 yr Obama has assured Brady that he is working on gun control "under the radar." Riiiiight. Show me where that crazy story came from.
December 27, 201114 yr As posted above, if anyone is using Obama to increase gun sales it is probably the weapons industry itself. Let there be no doubt - law abiding competent adults will always be able to acquire guns and no Democrat president will be able stop that. Yes, maybe you will have to fill out a form, maybe wait a day or two, maybe even wait longer while they do a background check ... is that a problem? I don't see that as being any more of a pain than having to buy a gun cabinet to secure your weapons in. Perhaps someone can explain to me why having laws that try to keep weapons out of the hands of criminals or the incompetent are a problem (please ... for the sake of this discussion let's not get into the constituional arguments because that one isn't valid in what I am asking here).
December 27, 201114 yr I thoroughly enjoyed NRA mouthpiece Wayne LaPierre saying that the President was lulling the voters to sleep so that they re-elect him at WHICH POINT he will remove the 2nd amendment completely.
