Obama Spurs Firearm Sales

On March 30, the 30th anniversary of the assassination attempt on President Ronald Reagan, Jim Brady, who sustained a debilitating head wound in the attack, and his wife, Sarah, came to Capitol Hill to push for a ban on the controversial “large magazines.” Brady, for whom the law requiring background checks on handgun purchasers is named, then met with White House press secretary Jay Carney. During the meeting, President Obama dropped in and, according to Sarah Brady, brought up the issue of gun control, “to fill us in that it was very much on his agenda,” she said.

“I just want you to know that we are working on it,” Brady recalled the president telling them. “We have to go through a few processes, but under the radar.”

Maybe Mr.s Brady misunderstood him.

So how would the POTUS go about removing the 2nd Amendment?

Never said anything about him removing the 2nd...
If I owned a gun shop I, too, would be screaming about that Commie Nigerian wanting to take away guns from hard-working Americans. I'd then just watch those that don't think for themselves flock to my store.

No way to support it though. Brady group gave President Obama a "F."

NRA fiction.

You realize Obama's view of guns and gun ownership isn't exactly positive? I don't care what he 's left alone this term, it's what's on the agenda for the next term that's concerning.

It's ok RTS ... I am sure there is no boogeyman under your bed. Don't let those wacky kids tell you there is.

Fine. Then what do you envision his "under the radar" plan to be. The NRA (and I'm not assuming you're a member) is saying he is going to get rid of the 2nd Amendment. How in the world does one go about that?

My understanding is he wants tighter rules. I'm OK with that.

The problem with the guns right folks is that nothing is acceptable. That's where I diverge. I am pro-gun ownership. I also believe it's too easy to get a gun. I'm not naive enough to think you can eradicate all illegal gun transactions. I do believe you can make it tougher and also enforce rules about ammo and types of guns that are acceptable.

Nothing is acceptable? For God's sake look at the number of gun laws and restrictions on the books already. You know, criminals will never obey any gun law. Gun laws are for the law abiding citizen only. Plain and simple.

Sorry. Just an attempt at some humor. I find the hidden agenda and conspiracy theory talk to nearly always be on the outlandish side so I threw an outlandish statement in there.

Adult comment - Obama has done nothing to cause fear in the gun control ranks and I see talk of his gun control agendas now just being the NRA and its supporters getting geared up for the next election.

So do you agree that nothing new will be acceptable?

Nothing new is needed. Simply enforce the laws already in place. But that's not good enough for them, it never will until it's impossible or near impossible to own a gun.
