February 27, 201214 yr I didn't see the AS game but I hear Kobe's nose was broken by DWade. Yeah wasn't as bad as it seems but still pretty tough foul. D Wade was coming across Kobe's face and caught him right on the nose as he was bringing his arm down. Play stopped for a minute, Kobe rubbed his face then went to the sidelines, got his nose swabbed, then they went back to playing. Kind of surprises me that it got broke in that exchange but he definitely gave him the bloody nose thats for sure.

It was extremely excessive for an All -Star game. Heck in a real game I have seen less called a flagrant foul.

It was definitely excessive for an all star game but you see the same fouls in almost every game when a player gets in deep like that and tries to go up amongst the big guys. I know Wade isn't one of the big guys but still you see the same type of thing happen a lot. Like you said, I've seen similar plays bring about a flagrant then I've seen plenty that are just standard fouls. Usually guys are going for the block or going for the ball when things like this happen so although somebody may take an accidental shot to the face it's usually not intentional or not enough to warrant anything more than your standard personal foul. What I was alluding too was it isn't as bad as it sounds. People hear mild concussion and broken nose and they must think D Wade went all Anderson Silva on Kobe but thats just not the case.

February 28, 201214 yr They lose nothing with Bynum. They'd be the same. They need to shore up the pieces around Howard/Bynum. I'm not sold on Lopez. Bynum is ready though. How would they be the same. No way Bynum gives them what Howard gives them, except it would be similar on their cap. I'd prefer to be bad, have cap room and build. There are only two ways to build in the NBA now, sign big-time guys or draft. No one is going to sign in Orlando without Howard, why not draft? If you build well enough you could end up with something like San Antonio built or OKC is building. All it takes is one real star. Bynum is not that guy, why pay him like he is? That's what they are now. They aren't legit title contenders. Instead of getting something in return for the best big man in the league you are saying let him walk so they suck and get a high draft pick. Not exactly a recipe for success. You get one Greg Oden and then you really are set back for 6 or 7 years. They would lose very little with Bynum. I'd say Bynum is the 2nd best C in the league. I'm not so sure about Lopez. They still have good enough players on their team to be mediocre in the East with an average C if they let Howard walk. I just don't see how you could possibly let him walk. If you are worried about get high draft picks they should just trade him for only draft picks and a player whose deal expires at the end of the year. You go firesale after you get rid of Howard. Cleveland doesn't look that bad going forward with Irving, though they should have gotten rid of more and tried to build slower. Maybe Cleveland could have had a combo like Kyrie and Anthony Davis. Would you not take a chance at that over having Bynum and an average team? The only way Orlando survives with that new arena is to hit the jackpot. I don't call Andrew Bynum the jackpot.
February 28, 201214 yr I agree with Cats, I would prefer flexibility over Bynum or Lopez because I do not think you can build a championship around either. I do not want draft picks in a trade for Howard because the team he goes to will not draft early- they will be significantly better with Howard's presence and have mid to late first round picks. My eye would be on the 2013 draft, not the upcoming one, if I were the Magic's front office. Maybe the Magic could look at adding Steve Nash to entice Dwight to stay?

February 28, 201214 yr Ahead to the 2nd half of the season. How do you all think the 2nd half of the NBA Season will shake out? On a side note Brandon Knight is having a pretty solid rookie season for the Pistons, and had a really good 4 game stretch right before the All Star break.

BTW, I have floor seats to the Mavs-Jazz game this Saturday, so I am looking forward to bringing in the second half in style. :clap:

There is a diffidence between being Batman and being Robin- Bynum was Bat Girl in the Lakers titles. Like I said, he's the 3rd option. And as of today he's averaging 16 pts, 12 rebs and 2 blocks. Howard is at 20, 15 and 2.7. Give Bynum the whole paint and watch him work. I'll admit I have always thought Howard was overrated. I think Bynum is underused and underrated. I'd love to see him without Pau. Health is an issue which is why I say he'd be cheaper. He's been a lot better recently.
