December 24, 201114 yr Exactly. The only reason they didn't is the money.I fixed it for you. If boise would generate the money for the bigger bowls they would have been in.
December 24, 201114 yr Author To continue, no other reason why a WOEFUL ACC conference gets two BCS bowl invites.
December 24, 201114 yr None of those teams you mentioned are deserving. The BCS without Arkansas is problem #1. No one is taking up for the BCS but to act like because Boise State beat UGA that they are deserving of a BCS bid is faulty also. Who did they lose to that cost them a bid? TCU? Sounds like Boise screwed the selves out of a BCS bid to me. Boise State is garbage and now that they are in the Big East their garbageness will be proven in due time. Arkansas is the most overrated team in the country IMO. Top 15 team but they got too much love for playing in a very down SEC this year. Outside of the top 2, I'm not sure anyone else in the SEC was very good. Auburn was down, MSU disappointed, Ole Miss and UT were woeful, USCe lost Lattimore and their QB and still nearly won the East, UGA and Arky weren't bad but didn't have to play anyone. Worst SEC in 6 years IMO. What "great" teams has Peterson defeated and who are his losses to? I do wish they would have gotten a BCS game. So tired of hearing about what they deserve. Give them Wisconsin. Or Michigan State. Or Oregon. Or Stanford. Or Oklahoma State. One of them. *crickets* And then *taps* I don't think they are better than some of those teams but they would give any of them problems IMO. Oklahoma State would be in the most trouble against Boise IMO. Boise's success is based on defeating the opponents schemes by being the most fundamentallly sound team in the country (find one better anywhere), and not making mistakes. They would have a good scheme to slow down the Cowboys, and they wouldn't turn the ball over which is the only way OSU makes stops. To continue, no other reason why a WOEFUL ACC conference gets two BCS bowl invites. And VT doesn't even travel that well!!!
December 24, 201114 yr PP92 you are just totally in the minority on this one, face it. It's okay, just saying. You don't buy it, most others do. It's cool. Oh, I know. I'll respond if people talk to me though. It's rude to ignore people.
December 24, 201114 yr To continue, no other reason why a WOEFUL ACC conference gets two BCS bowl invites. I agree. And I am an FSU fan.

I agree with you about the SEC, but I still think that South Carolina with their defense and Arkansas with their offense could capably compete with everyone else in the country not named Bama or LSU. I felt all year long Bama and LSU were simply better than EVERYBODY in college football. As said earlier, I don't believe the hype on Boise State. They'll have a chance to prove me wrong going forward once they are BCS eligible. Provided they keep winning the way they have won with Chris Peterson at the helm.

Provided they keep winning the way they have won with Chris Peterson at the helm.Boise vs. BCS schools the last four seasons: 2008 ... beat Oregon 37-32 at Oregon 2009 ... beat Oregon 19-8 2010 ... beat Virginia Tech 33-30 in Washington, D.C. beat Oregon State 37-24 2011 ... beat Georgia 35-21 in Atlanta beat Arizona State 56-24 (bowl game) In 2010, they also beat TCU (ranked in the top 5) in the Fiesta Bowl. Boise has proven they belong in the conversation.

Boise has proven they belong in the conversation. Conversation? Sure. There are valid points in that conversation. I also think that had they beat Oregon in 2010 when Oregon was a great team I'd be more receptive. In a lot of those wins that you posted Boise exposed those teams to not as good as we thought they would be. As for the TCU victory I am admittedly anti-non BCS conference schools. I wasn't sold on TCU last year either.
December 24, 201114 yr Losing to Boise proved Oregon and Virginia Tech to not be top 5 teams those years. Did it not? So let me get this straight, you consider Boise Garbage. Yet you admit if those teams could have beaten that garbage team they would have been good enough to be a top 5 team? Ok thanks for supporting my point. Boise has beaten top 5 talent teams and killed those teams seasons right from the start. Stop looking at what the name of the jersey says and look at the team. If you know how to evaluate a team, you could see that they are a really good team and a legit top 10 team no matter what conference they are in.

I wasn't sold on TCU last year either. It's a Catch-22. Boise beats them so you say they weren't that good. Maybe they were pretty good and Boise just happened to be a bit better. Just about all of those teams ended up ranked in the top 20 somewhere, and some of those games weren't real close. And a bowl system that seems to accommodate the BCS schools' reluctance to play the likes of TCU and Boise State just perpetutates the argument. If you want to shut up the likes of Boise and/or TCU, give them a top-10 opponent in a bowl game ... or better yet, let's have a playoff.

For the record I think Kansas State is garbage also AND I have never claimed to be an expert evaluator of college football. I don't believe the hype on Boise State until they beat a team from a BCS conference that is top 5 at the end of the year. Still waiting.....

Still waiting.....Thanks to the bowl system, they haven't had that chance, to the best of my memory. What was Oklahoma ranked in 2006? They were 11th after the bowl games, which makes me think they were close to the top five before that?
