UGLY on the Colonels part. I'll be shocked if they shot above 30% from the field.

Credit Elder's D with some of it as they played in-your-face physical D. This just in: CCH is not a physical team.

Also, this game really showed how much of an impact Tierney can have when on the floor.

Elder has to have one of the best sound systems around. Very impressive.

On the other hand, the officiating crew and the scorekeeper looked like they were not sure of what was going on . Way too many conferences among officials. Way too many times stopping the game to fix the time or score. Horns were sounding because some kid ran up to the table after the ball was in play. Rag-tag operation.

This game was a bit closer than the final score indicates, the Colonels were leading at halftime (of off a full court Jacobs shot).

In order to beat quality teams, CCH will need Tierney. The combo of Bovard, Landrum, and Brown at point guard struggled mightily against Elder.

Elder outrebound CovCath 53-22, but I think that stat is a little bit exaggerated. Regardless, the Panthers killed them on the glass.

Free Throws: Elder 25-30, Cov Cath 9-13.

CovCath managed to win the turnover battle (by 1) and the field goal % (by .1%) and still lost big time. Colonel big guys Young and Schult need to stay out of foul trouble and on the floor. Elder did a great job of giving TJ no open looks tonight. Hopefully they can rebound from this on Tuesday.

How many did he have?

Disappointing to say the least, but not totally unexpected. Any physical team will give CCH problems, and playing at the Pit allows for much more physical play.

Did Jacobs play point at all? If a team is being physical, like I suspect Elder was, I think TJ would be the best choice at the 1, while Tierney is out.

I agree with colonelcrazy. TJ should definitely see some time at the point while Tierney is out. Against tough, physical defensive minded teams, such as Elder, Highlands, etc., TJ should see some action at the point because he is a strong kid who handles the ball as well as anyone that the Colonels have.

Todd also has that "i'm in control" attitude that the other 3 haven't acheived yet.

What about a very physical team like Holy Cross? BTW, I agree that I might have tried TJ at point. Who won the battle of the Bovard cousins?

Elder Bo had a pretty solid performance.

The style of play in the GCL is much more different, and playing on the road is a different environment. Heck, even @ Brossart in the 10th is an adjustment. Playing Holy Cross, whether it be on the road or in Park Hills, will not require much of an adjustment.

Typically, Elder has very good athletes and is very disciplined. Holy Cross, at least under Trame, was not nearly as successful.

Wait until they get a taste of HHS D.........That should be a great game.....If they don't toughen up by then Guidugli will man handle them down low.......

Do you honestly think that he will man handle them when they have already played 3 or 4 centers bigger and better than him and also Highlands has played maybe 1 or 2 games against teams that could keep up with CovCath?

Give it a rest. The way CovCath has one-sided this rivalry the last few years, I'd say the Birds should be the ones worrying about that game.
