I agree that TJ would have a great shot at averaging 21. I didn't know you were such a fan of his.

 

Hats off to Bibbins. He has exceeded my expectations . Unfortunately, that's more of a comment on the lack of guard play at NKU. Bibbins is a classic D3 PG (and , as I've said before, I'm a fan of the kid).

He is a classic D3 guard but yet he has started on a D2 school as a freshman. I think Coach Bezold knows a little more about the game than you or I.

By the way Nate hasn't reach what I thought he was. He hasn't improved much from his freshman year. I still think at the time I said the comment, Nate was better. But he hasn't hit the weight room, nor has he made himself better in some area's he should of, i.e. shooting of the dribble. Kudos to Jacobs for making the effort.

We agree on Nate's lack of improvement in his weak areas. Hopefully, this year will show him he cannot just be a spot-up shooter.

The next group in no particular order are Beechwood, Dixie, Newport, Ryle and HC

Actually Bibbins would be great for D3 Thomas More and I would rate him a maybe between D3 and D2. Maybe not a solid D2 guard because he is not able to defend D2 guards because of his size. Offensively his quickness makes up for the lack of size.

 

Back to the topic.

 

Not a great year for the 9th but I still think CovCath and Holmes are a cut above. Possibilites exist for Highlands and NCC by the end of the year. Kiernan is averaging 24 points and 11 Rebs without the guards being ready yet, no practice time, and 3 weeks removed from hobbling on a bad leg in the state football final.

I don't think anyone else will challenge these three for the regional title.

1. Holmes- Will be number one as long as everyone is healthy and happy.

2. CovCath-Need to get Tim back if they are going to upset the Dogs.

3. Highlands-Physical play, good defense, are why they win. Offense is improving.

4. NCC- BigStud will tell you I've been saying this is the team to watch. They have all it takes to be a top 2 or 3 team in this region now that the football squad has arrived. A little more depth is what they could use down the stretch. Kiernan is a beast and IMO is the best center in the region.

^Beechwood exposed Dan a couple weeks ago... Beechwoods tallest player is about 6'3'' if I'm not mistaken and they held him to something like 5 points and 13 boards...

Not IMO, I have never been impressed with Penick except for his size and really thats not too impressing either. If I was 6'8" I could out rebound Bellvue, Beechwood, Calvary, and Lloyd. Heck I could do that if I was 6'4".

 

Howard isn't a bad big man, but isn't in the 9th anymore.

 

Have you seen Keirnan Bigstick? Until someone stops him I'm going to keep giving him the props he deserves and keep saying he is the best right now. I might be biased from coaching him in AAU, but he dominated down at the state AAU tourny.

Keirnan is a beast, but if Scott were still in the 9th I would take Howard. He is just a more polised player offensively.
