They are the group behind the ad. A very open evangelical Christian group.

His is a very narrow, ultra-fundamentalist brand of evangelicism. I have big problems with the premise that folks in an overwhelmingly devout country such as the Phillipines — almost exclusively Catholic — need to be converted.

 

Other than my earlier question (which no one has satisfactorily answered) about why people believe God would favor him at the expense of other teams, which almost certainly include plenty of similarly devout players, the idea that a country full of devout Catholics need converting is a big problem with me. I was raised Catholic in a crummy hilljack town where most everyone was hard-core ultra-Baptist. Regularly would I get asked "are you even a Christian?" to the point it was just better not to discuss these things rather than get into fights daily with religious bigots.

By this theory, if Brady prays extra hard, circumsizes a few kids, and appears in anti-abortion ads this week what will the outcome of Sunday's game be?

To expand on that, does Timmy get the edge for being first? Will God decide he has already blessed The Brady enough with his good looks, Super Bowl Rings, and smokin' hot wife?

 

I'm trying to get a better idea of how God chooses the winners of football games. It will greatly help my financial future.

The Bible reveals God showing certain kinds of favor on some individuals (Abraham, David, Job, etc.) & then not showing that same kind of favor with others (John the Baptist, Paul). It's a pretty common theme in Scripture, if you ask me.

 

God doesn't treat everyone the same way. He loves everyone equally. I believe His Son died for everyone equally. But He does not bless, equip, answer or gift everyone in the same manner. If He gives Tim Tebow success on the football field, it doesn't mean He's then forced to grant the same to a Seahawks special teams player who asks for the same.

 

Again, I have no idea what role God is playing--if any--in Tebow's football playing. I just believe that God chooses to do what God chooses to do. And that's what makes Him God.

Well, for one Tebow is geniune in his religious beliefs.

How is it hyperbole? Are those not all things Tebow does which would earn him enough favor in God's eyes for God to decide the outcome of his football game?

Hard not to take your post as saying that if he just decides to start praying before the game God would show the favor to him.
