I think Lowes, like all corporations, are bigots only about controversy. If they find out that something they are associated with is controversial with some group, they will disassociate themselves asap. Remember, corporations are not moral - they exist to create a profit and anything that interferes with that is a problem for them. Sometimes, like a situation like this, it's a no-win for them.

Agree to some point on the bold. What if it was the Klan? Or Rev Phelps? On the same issue, would they have caved? It's the same bigot behavior. If Lowes made the decision in the begining that putting ad's on the show would not be in their best interests, then more power to them. I am sure the back-lash out of them pulling the ad's will be worse than if they did not pull them.

I've watched the show and found it facinating. There's a football coach, whose life is centered around...football. There is a woman who is really going against the traditional roles for Muslim women and is trying to open a night club. There is a couple that is struggling with fertility and another couple who just had a baby. There is a even a couple composed of a Muslim woman and a formerly Catholic man.

 

Again, I find a look into a different culture such as this to be very interesting. I'm disappointed in Lowes. Too bad that it's really my only home improvement superstore around.

This is my problem with the matter. The government nor any government official has any business to demand who a company advertises with.

I agree 100%, I have never seen the show but I disagree with any politician trying to demand anything from a business, especially since they do all business over seas

There is a even a couple composed of a Muslim woman and a formerly Catholic man.

I just happen to catch this show for the first time and saw this part. Heartbreaking as the man has to part with his dog that he has had for many many years due to the wife's allergies. But I also got a vibe that it may had something to do with pets in the home considered unclean in the Muslim culture?

 

At any rate, it was slow moving, but I was interested. Not saying I would make time to watch it again though....

I'm confused on why everyone has a problem w/ tax payer money in this situation? It isn't our money, Lieu is in the California STATE Senate. Secondly, he represents Torrance, which I guess, has prided itself on being the most diverse of cities. He's been huge in trying to get any barriers against immigration/discrimination squelched. He's just saving face. He bluffed to keep a couple of voters happy.
