Congrats to Montgomery Co in what turned out to be an AWESOME game! Prewitt was amazing and is such a smooth shooter, but the night belonged to Jake Handshoe who hits the winning basket with .8 secs left.

Well the 10th really is wideopen this year. Would Scott or Montgomery County be the favorite at this point? I know its still early in the season and this will change from week to week but I think its a good discussion to have at this point after numerous games by 10th region teams with each other thus far.

My top 5 at this point would be:

1. Montgomery County

2. Scott

3a. Pendleton County

3b. GRC

3c. Bishop Brossart

3d. Harrison County

4(or does that make them 7?). Mason County

5(8) Campbell County

 

The 10th will be filled with animosity this year. Should make for a fun season.

GRC has to hit their free throws. It was the difference in the game. They hit a mediocre 60-65% percent and they win by a few. But they didn't so congrats to Montgomery for breaking their streak against GRC. Montgomery like GRC needs to find a reliable third scoring option in order to get better by post season. So far this seaon I would have to say Scott is showing that they are the team to beat as of right now in the 10th. Montgomery, GRC and Pendleton are probably in the next tier with Mason likely to join them.

GRC played a very experienced Montgomery squad to a 2 point loss in front of a rowdy home crowd. I was waiting for Montgomery to cut the nets down after they won! They have a lot to prove before they get my nod for the tenth region crown. Cardinals will be there in the end as usual with a chance to punch their ticket to Rupp!

Best atmosphere in that gym since the region final back in '08. Great game in this great rivalry. If the Indians can find a consistant third option outside of Prewitt and Handshoe, they should be the favorite in the 10th.

This was possibly the first of what could be 4 games these two teams play (one more regular season, hopefully district championship game, and hopefully regional championship game). Both teams will need someone to step up and score more. I think as the season progresses, the Indians will improve drastically as they are still learning and adjusting to the new system and style of play. When that happens I think you will see that 3rd scorer step up. IMO I think it will be Jones.
