So, are you saying that all 6'5" physical specimens got invited to play in this game? I do believe he went to CA to compete in a competition that was made up of a pretty impressive invite only list. He performed very well and was declared part of the Elite 11, a very impressive accolade indeed. His high school team was bitten by the injury bug early on and they didn't have the year they wanted to, but Zeke is a very impressive QB or he would not be playing in the Army All-American game and going to Auburn on a football scholly. Not sure why some here are trying to discredit this young man for his achievements. Seems odd.

How did he become a big recruit, his size and what he did in camps as you mentioned. But camps is not on-field performance. This award is not for on-field achievement but for being a highly rated recruit. There are qb's all across the country who had great years, better years than he had. He had a subpar year. This is based solely on his potential as a recruit, a physical specimen, nothing more.

The selection to theses events have nothing to do with your "High School" team. It's the individual that they're looking at. Zeke deserves to be where he is at regardles of Dixie's record or how he looked with them on Friday nights. These guys saw Zeke compete with some top notch receivers, evaluated his potential and gave him the honor to play in this game. Good luck Zeke and enjoy the ride!

But that is where you are wrong. He became a top recruit by performing on the field. He has competed in 7 on 7's across the country and he has competed in camps. Getting to the Elite 11 was not because of someone thinking he was a "specimen". He competed at various sites to earn that. And at the Elite 11 he had to compete every day against the top QB's from across the nation to earn his top 10 ranking. I know where you are coming from. There are QB's all over the place with better stats in high school games. But the fact is in this day and age, stats in high school games don't get you rated as a top recruit and don't win you scholarships. That's just the way it is today in a lot of sports, not just football. If you want that scholarship, you need to hit the camps.

Wasn't he the only player from KY to make the Elite 11? That might have something to do with the selection.

I do not want to diminish anything PT accomplished or his awesome season. He is a great QB and I wish him nothing but the best at UK. I am a big fan. I think folks need to quit getting caught up in the ZP and PT comparisons. How many of you were at the Elite 11 competition? They are both really, really good QB's. Good luck to ZP. Not sure where you got the college list Roman but there was an article approx. 2 weeks ago which said that Auburn was renewing their interest in Winston, who is also a stellar baseball player. If they both went to Auburn that would make for an interesting QB competition. Interestingly Gunner Kiel, who was rated as the #1 pro-style QB in this year's senior class didn't even make the final 11.

Ryan Leaf had all the physical abilities too. Let's hope Zeke develops more like a Brady or Montana or a Manning (minus the neck issues).

No, I'm not. He would not have come close to Towles #'s. He would not have played in half of the games. Dale would not put up with his antics, and he would have sat the pine, or maybe not even be on the team. There is much more to being a great QB, and half of it is between the ears. So far, young Mr. Pike has yet to prove he can do this at a HS level, let alone an SEC caliber level. I would bet that if they could just swap with UK right now, they would do it in a heartbeat. JMO.
