I don't believe these schools cut - throw Villa in the crowd as well.

 

Not sure either but I would agree with you that these schools probably do not cut. They all seem to be looking for junior high players just to fill out their rosters and do not have enough kids going out for the team to even consider cutting someone.

The Diocese recognizes students by parishes so quite a few in feeder schools to Brossart register at St. Therese so they can play in the 8th grade at NCC. Everyone knows this. However they are still attending schools that are direct feeder schools to BBHS:eek:

That doesn't happen at BBHS. You must be in the Bishop Brossrat feeder schools. Hope that it explains it Chris as you already know

Interesting. I am curious what the feeder schools are for Notre Dame, St. Henry, Villa and Holy Cross? I believe there have been kids from St. Joe Cold spring play on a freshman or JV team at Notre Dame and Villa before. Wouldn't that be considered the same thing? I would assume St. Joe Cold Spring is not a feeder school for Notre Dame or Villa. Or are they?

Nope, you just take from your "public school neighbor". It is amazing that this continues to be a complaint year after year with some at BBHS. Kids will go where they feel the most comfortable and their friends go, or maybe their parents become embarrassed by some of the public antics of certain administartors??

 

All I can say is that I am happy my child is not involved in this type of situtation.

You are 100% correct. However 99% of those kids are going to attend NewCath anyway so why not let them start playing ASAP. It is a joke why we have this districting crap to deal with. I don't blame parents one bit if this is what they have to do. Would you rather them play at Brossart for a year or two then as freshman head on up to the "hill". You have already had this happen in Volleyball at least twice that I know of. One of NewCath's senior star VB player's this year started for Brossart's varsity as an 8th grader, attended a Brossart feeder school, and her freshman year she's at Newcath starting varsity. And this year an 8th grader from St. Joe's started varsity at Brossart which meant no one could get cut and some less than desirable players had to be kept, and from what I heard many not happy about it because most know she was not going to Brossart for HS, and know this girls is going to be attending Notre Dame as a freshman.

There is no "feeder" schools anymore...the Diocese decided to do away with that when they mandated that ALL tuition be the same for everyone. People may think there are "feeder" schools, or better yet parishes, but the honest truth is you can go to any Diocesan high school and pay the same rates regardless of where you live now.

ND is the School that is getting kids from all over, they had 170 Freshman last year. NCC and Brossart might be lucky to get 45.

1 of the 2 KEY issues with the other being not enough kids playing at an early age and I'd say the development issue is bigger than the "other sports" issue. There a lot of good softball players that do not pass the eyeball test for athleticism. It's a skill.

I agree, really hard for a girl to pick up a glove in the 8th or 9th grade and be really successful.

That's real easy to answer......lack of interest in the game. At ND, NewCath, Brossart, St. Henry girls sports that dominate are Hoops, VB, Soccer, & Track, not in any particular order. Fastpitch easily #5 on the list, maybe #6 after X-Country. JMO

I blame the parents if they allow there child to play as a 7th or 8th grader for a high school where they KNOW they will not be attending. If your truly unsure thats one thing, but most kids / parents know prior. Of course the kid is going to be excited to play up but the parent needs to step up and explain to them that this wouldnt be right ! JMO
