When Holy Cross started a team 4 years ago it was easy for the younger kids. They had no Jr's or Sr's and most the kids were in the 7th or 8th grade.

Brossart will be good again they have basically 7-8 starters back and a good bench. Pitchers will be very solid with Shackelford and Reilly along with four 8th graders. Holmes was 9-21 and Holy Cross 3-20 last season sometimes when you struggle your kids get overlooked unfortunately

Thanks BGH. Agree Brossart will have a very nice team again this year and still very young. Only lost their pitcher and catcher to graduation I believe. Is the Reilly girl a sister of the pitcher from a few years back?

Agreed. They do have a nice group of girls returning though. It will be interesting to see how good the two pitchers are that BGH mentioned and who will take over the catching duties. If they have solid replacements at both positions they should be very good again this season.

Your right its going to be tough to replace the pitcher and catcher that they had. But they seem to always plug someone else in. They will be young but I would never count them out. Time will tell!

Does she have a relative that plays at Campbell? I know that there Campbell had a girl name Schackelford that threw for them last season in some varsity games.

I believe this is the same girl. Heard she transferred to Brossart.

She did but it wasn't a transfer since she was 8th grader last year. She simpily went to a Campbell grade school and then as a freshman enrolled at Bishop Brossart.

Everyone has their own rule. At Bishop Brossart you can not play an under grade nine player on jv or varsity if you have made cuts to someone attending the high school. They must actually attend a direct feeder school to Bishop Brossart (not just loosely align themself with a parish for athletic purpose). Generally it is used to fill out teams like freshmen squads that don't have enough, but it is more common in running sports like cross country. In soccer and football an under grade nine athlete cannot play jv or varsity against a junior or senior because of KHSAA rules. Bishop Brossart had had some great athletes play varsity as 8th garders including Katie Schwegmann.
