Dixie's pitcher is a great young pitcher and is expected to do big things this season. She had her first varsity experience last year and I assume she will be stronger this coming year. Dixie has good defense with Megan James at second base who only had one error last season, Brooke Garrett at short stop who has a great arm and could throw the fastest runner out at first, and they have a solid third basemen. They also have good batters. Not sure why they get overlooked

 

Dixie has a great pitcher? I am not sure they are over looked, I think they fall in line with the rest of the region right after Ryle, ST Henry, Conner and Boone.

Abby Kirkwood is my favorite.

 

For my money Kirkwood is the most under rated player in the region.

How much did Ryle lose from last year. I know they lost Cassie Hamilton who has been rock solid for them and they have Hayle Smith back so that will put them towards the top. Also does anyone know if Hamilton went on to try and play in college.

I am not over looking Dixie at all. I have them in my top 5 or 6, but they will have to beat one of the other four in Ryle, Boone, Conner or St. Henry for them to move up. I like Dixie a lot and I think the Spencer girl is a very solid pitcher even though she is only an 8th grader. She is a very hard worker and will improve as time goes on. I think the Dixie coach used her very well last season to give her some varsity experience. Dixie will definitely have a solid team and should be able to compete for a regional title.

They lost their great short stop Jenna Sanders. She was a stud and was a starter since her 8th grade year when Kirsten Allen was pitching. She was a very strong hitter and played great defense. I believe she was the MVP of the 9th Region Tournament last year. She will be greatly missed. I think they will move Steinele to SS this year.

True. I guess they will have to prove themselves for falling short from those teams. However, I do think they have some great players that get overlooked.

Walton Verona would definitely be in top NKY teams.There are quite a few really good players and that do one or two things above average and are in the top tier on their respective teams. I could name quite a few that have had a good year or show potential to continue. However, based on their past performances the following list IMO are those multiple tool type "game changers" (some combination of hitting, defense, pitching, power, speed, etc). They would all be my initial candidates for potential Player of Year or top player picks in no certain order:

Sorry, how could I forget about Walton. I guess I was just thinking 9th Region. Walton would definitely be in the mix, they only lost one player last year to graduation. They would definitely be in the top 5 or 6. I like all the girls you mention too. They are all great players.

IMO the best among those mentioned. This kid plays with the intensity that rivals the best male players out there, and has all the tools to back it up.
