Bishop Brossart 83 Silver Grove 15

Correct.

They don't go through the charade of being able to compete with the big schools in the 33rd.

Makes a lot of sense for them. Does this make them unpopular w/ other teams, or are the other teams grateful that they don't have to waste a game?

No. The other teams would get nothing out of playing them and why would you want to embarrass a team?

That's what I assumed. Some other schools in districts that don't seed have a similar mindset. While I understand where they're coming from, I feel like seeding should be mandatory statewide. But I place a big emphasis on quality regional tournaments. Seeding, I believe, gives you a much better shot at quality regionals.

Don't have too many stats. 14 of our 16 dressed players scored, seven of which were sophomores scoring their first ever varsity points.

Sophomore Alex Trentman led all scorers with 14, Nate Verst and Justin Saunders added 13 apiece in limited playing time.

Silver Grove was totally out-manned as the score indicates. Their freshmen were scrappy, played together well, passed the ball effectively, but need to value possession of the ball just a little bit and they could be good.

I'm wondering if Silver Grove could just accept the district fifth seed and not have to go through the headache of playing ourselves, Scott, and Campbell County. Not sure if they would be permitted to do that, OR maybe they are doing the honorable thing by their kids and giving them the chance to run with the district big dogs. I can't imagine that playing these teams is much fun for the Trains.

I'm sure I can look up last year's thread regarding the same beatdown that occurred but I'm lazy.

So, why does Brossart play the Grove? Is it a district game?

Looked it up and it was 81-37 last year, but it was only a few years ago that the Grove was very competitive in the district, even with the fine BB teams of the mid-2000's. Obviously the Trains have run out of Pelle's the last couple years, but always give their best effort. Sounds like reinforcements are coming in the next few years?

I think Corey Pelle enjoyed these games quite a bit?? :D

Kuntz had 0 in the varsity game and 11 in the freshmen game. The state doesnt allow you to just take the 5th seed anymore. If it is a seeded District you used to be able to do that. Now if you refuse to play the team has to take a loss and the "winning team" has to take the "win." So say Silver Grove refused to play Brossart, Campbell and Scott they would be 0-3 and Brossart, Campbell and Scott would all have to take a win that counts toward their limit of games.

What scoring 30 and losing? :D

Hard to tell much from games like this, but BB will be a major player in the 10th this year.

Our favorite beat writer Marc Hardin (who still thinks Chris Hayes is playing at Holmes) even wrote a big article on the game last night in the Enquirer. Wow....

He missed a better game with BW/St Henry girls.

Agreed....or maybe he could have just written an article on any other team in NKY then cover the BB/SG Blowout.
