I voted other and my other would be Mathieu. I'll stick with the tried and true Heisman formula of voting for the best player on the best team in December and that is Mathieu. When UKMF suggested him earlier, I was hesitant because he hadn't made many big plays in recent weeks, nor did he do anything noteworthy in the biggest game against Alabama. However, immediately after that, in two big games for LSU, Arkansas and Georgia, he made multiple big plays. IMO, that was enough for me, especially in a year where the Heisman picture is as muddled as I can remember.

Honey Bear (is that right?) for Heisman.

Haha oh 5W, it's Honey Badger

I don't think he has, he's my second choice. I was just listing the three they were discussing there. I want RG3 or Ball.

Uh oh. My vote won't count because of a simple mistake.

I'm glad people are coming around to the Honey Badger....Has there ever been a defensive player that was invited to NYC multiple times? I can't imagine he doesn't only get better next season.

Didn't his buddy make defensive player of the year for the SEC, so Heisman? Good player but I say no.

I don't think he's going to win it, but I think he's clearly the best player in the country. A lot of those conference and national awards deal with being an established and hyped player. Everyone knew much more about Claiborne at the beginning of the season than Mathieu. Next year, I look for him to sweep the defensive awards.

Just to clarify, USC fumbled a handoff. And, if Oregon's kicker would have made that kick, the game would have went to OT.

Where they likely would have won. You don't rally from 20 behind to lose in OT.

It has happened before. We'll never know. Nor does it matter, since he didn't make the kick.

I could just as easily say Trent Richardson's chances would be boosted significantly if his kicker had simply made one of 4 missed kicks.

It's nothing as simple as stats or being the best pro prospect. It's a combination of a larger set of qualities. Among NCAA QBs, RG3 has the highest passer rating and is well known for his ability as a dual-threat QB. He has taken a team that is utterly pathetic and made them into a top 15 team. His stats are VERY good and the competition he has played against is good enough to give those stats merit. His best moments have been in big situations, which is something that has been discussed somewhat over the past few days on ESPN. He has done more with less. Out of the group of QBs, those are the reasons I believe he is the most deserving of the award. I also think that what Montee Ball has done is equally impressive. As I said, I would be happy with either of those two winning the award.

I do get that when voting for a Heisman winner, it all comes down to personal preference. It is too difficult to compare stats considering varying levels of competition and surrounding cast. It is also difficult to compare stats for two different positions. This isn't a perfect science where one candidate can be proven beyond a doubt better than every other candidate.

I do not think his stats, wins, nor team ranking would be where it is now had he or his team played in the SEC.

For me personally, that is not a good enough reason to not award RGIII or Montee Ball the Heisman.

Honey dude is a very good DB in college, and has made some very nice plays and taking the ball, and return punts too. But will he keep it up? One voter said no way a player gets suspended for a game and wins the award, so next year if he keeps him self straight, maybe. I played safety and love that position.

So he wouldn't perform was well yet you still want to give him the Heisman? For what?

How do we know he wouldn't perform as well in the SEC? At UK? No. At LSU? Or Bama? Or Florida? Or Arkansas?

Is that the new Heisman standard? He wouldn't do that in the SEC so he doesn't deserve it?

Who is saying he's going to win? Not a soul. He's the best player in the game though, and it's not even close IMO.

Not debating you, but he wasn't even the best player in the same defensive position. I said some nice things about him, but the best player in the game is a little over board and not close, well it is your IMO, and thats fine. Remember, he had a great end of the season and coming back from his drug failure, his front wasn't that good. A good team player doesn't put himself in any position to fail a drug test. Best Player, could he play QB/RB/WR? How abaout a good DB, I guess I am debating you again. :idunno:

I'd love to meet up and have a lunch with you, I admire your spirit and football interest. But I feel I have a lot to ask you, and so forth.
