:thumb: I think they'd still be right at the top, but their numbers wouldn't be as staggering as they are now, same goes for the Big 12 offenses. Either way, RG3 is my guy, and the OK St score isn't the whole story. 425 yards passing is awesome, no matter how you look at it.
Doesn't bother me, I just think its weird that he lost that game threw two picks in a Kansas State loss and wins the Heisman. Not gonna complain, just wanna see it be fair..Gonna make Trent mad.

Those numbers in a vacuum do not do him any favors. But who knows? Maybe the picks were not on him? I don't honestly remember. The thing with INTs is that a QB has so much more to lose in any game Heisman wise because the worst thing an RB can do is fumble and most good ones don't fumble too often. All QBs, even Aaron Rodgers throw picks, often at bad times. What were Richardson's numbers in the 2nd half against LSU? Is that were most of his yardage came? That would be an interesting stat to look at IMO.

That a fair statement, the QB handles the ball almost every play, and a RB of course only part time. RG3 is very good, but I didn't see much of his games, only passing along info. But Trent should be measured for the game not just quarters. And Trent's back up has some good numbers, actually two back ups.

I understand your argument, but the quarterback is part of every offensive possession. They are, and should have more mistakes. I look at it from the standpoint that RG3s stats are remarkable while playing for Baylor, he turned Baylor into a top tier Big 12 team, and I just feel like he means the most to his team. Like you said, Trent has excellent back ups, and while I can't state this as fact, I think most would agree that Alabama would have lost maybe a game more at max without him. Ball has Wilson and Nick Toon, who definitely takes a lot of the pressure off of him. They likely lose a few games without him, but they are still a Big 10 contender. I feel like if you take away RG3, Baylor is the Baylor of old and are the Kentucky of the Big 12. Of course, this is just my opinion.

Also, I am sure Trent would be upset, just like Montee Ball and Luck would be. I don't have a problem with any of these guys, and think this is the best group of Finalists in awhile. I wish them all luck.

I'm in Finebaum's camp that says that RG3 would have struggled against much of the SEC defenses.

Based on what? Do you feel the same about the other top QB's such as Luck, Keenum, and Moore? I could see him struggling a little bit more against SEC defenses, because they're the best defenses in college football IMO. I feel you could say that for any QB though.

Overall, I think every qb would suffer in the area of stats if they played in the SEC. We are basing the Heisman vote on stats, though.

Luck is the best NFL prospect of the bunch IMO.

You are probably right about Luck being the best NFL prospect. At this point, he seems to be the easiest to project of the group. I still think RG3 could turn out to be an exceptional NFL QB, but that remains to be seen.

I'm not exactly sure if you were trying to argue that RG3 isn't as deserving of the Heisman because he would struggle against the SEC defenses or not. As I said in my previous post, I agree that he probably would. Not sure if that's pertinent to the discussion of how deserving he is though.

Luck beat USC. RGIII beat TCU, OU, and Texas. All three are infinitely more talented that Baylor. Remember if Oregon's Kicker makes that kick people are talking about the INT Barkley threw on the previous possession.

Just to clarify, USC fumbled a handoff. And, if Oregon's kicker would have made that kick, the game would have went to OT.

Luck is the best prospect, followed by Trent, then RG3. But, for the heisman I believe RG3 had the best season, followed by Trent, then Luck.

Just curious, and you may have already said this (long thread and I don't feel like going through and reading all of the comments), but why do you think Trent had a better season than Montee Ball?

You base your feeling on RG3 being the most deserving how?

It's nothing as simple as stats or being the best pro prospect. It's a combination of a larger set of qualities. Among NCAA QBs, RG3 has the highest passer rating and is well known for his ability as a dual-threat QB. He has taken a team that is utterly pathetic and made them into a top 15 team. His stats are VERY good and the competition he has played against is good enough to give those stats merit. His best moments have been in big situations, which is something that has been discussed somewhat over the past few days on ESPN. He has done more with less. Out of the group of QBs, those are the reasons I believe he is the most deserving of the award. I also think that what Montee Ball has done is equally impressive. As I said, I would be happy with either of those two winning the award.

I do get that when voting for a Heisman winner, it all comes down to personal preference. It is too difficult to compare stats considering varying levels of competition and surrounding cast. It is also difficult to compare stats for two different positions. This isn't a perfect science where one candidate can be proven beyond a doubt better than every other candidate.

I don't think he has, he's my second choice. I was just listing the three they were discussing there. I want RG3 or Ball.

I voted other and my other would be Mathieu. I'll stick with the tried and true Heisman formula of voting for the best player on the best team in December and that is Mathieu. When UKMF suggested him earlier, I was hesitant because he hadn't made many big plays in recent weeks, nor did he do anything noteworthy in the biggest game against Alabama. However, immediately after that, in two big games for LSU, Arkansas and Georgia, he made multiple big plays. IMO, that was enough for me, especially in a year where the Heisman picture is as muddled as I can remember.

Honey Bear (is that right?) for Heisman.
