Boone's defense has been playing lights out. Blocked punt for a td and a pick 6. Another int. set up the other td.

Boone's defense which has been very good all season has picked a great time to be playing its best football. Don't know how many yards they gave up, but other than the long drive that ended with an int in the end zone they gave up very little. This was old fashioned football.

 

Props to the offense too. Boone was never forced to throw other than the 2-min drill at the end of the half, so they chose to play smashmouth. I can't remember a pass attempt the entire 2nd half.

How did Boone score? Blocked punt? Didn't they also have a short field off of a bad punt snap?

I get that. Absolutely. However, I question a coach who fails to use his weapons in a game where his offense can't really score.

They played to win the game. Time of possession was in Boone County's favor. The Rebels moved the ball very well on the ground. Other than a few drive killing penalties, they played mistake free until a muffed punt w/ 2 min left. The only points the team has given up in the last 2 games was when they tried to throw the ball. The team won the game, Defense, Offense & Special teams all contributed to a team win. If they need to throw to win next week they will, but this week that was not the plan.
