Congrats to HC. I give this a big WOW too. I am shocked but not totally surprised.

As far as an open stadium. Highlands would be more than happy to open up the gates for HC to host a game. A little bit like Scott, construction half done and parking a mess. LOL

But an awesome venue for a Classic.

On this question about NCC vs Holy Cross going forward, I still see it being a rare occasion when Holy Cross beats NCC. However, I will say that Coach Eviston is going to be put to the test next season. NCC loses a lot. The only player with any size returning is Rust. I liken this a little to the Simon Kenton situation. Two years ago was a high point for NCC, like the year Simpson graduated and SK made it to the finals. This year NCC was still very good behind a great athletic winner at QB, like SK was last year behind Lawrence. It is going to be a big rebuilding project for Eviston next season. It will be interesting to see how he puts it together. I have no doubt NCC will fare better than what we saw out of SK this year because honestly, NCC is just a better program. But next year is going to be Eviston's most challenging season by far since he became head coach. If Holy Cross wants to put a dent in the lopsided record versus NCC, these next couple of years may be their best opportunity.

It will be interesting to see how Holy Cross looks next year as well. Fuller, Walker, Kohake, and Lampone (and others) are tough shoes to fill.

They return Hayes, Franzen, and Cain. Josh Cain will be a very good QB next year. He's still growing and will probably be at a legit 6'2" by next season. If they can get some help w/ Rust, I look for NewCath to be in the thick of things by the end of the year.

The senior class from last years Indians that was led by QB Jerry Arlinghaus was a much worse team their frosh year than the freshman team from this year and they turned out alright, so I wouldn't write them off just yet, for many of those players it was their first time ever playing football. Also the senior class for the Indians this year only won about 4 games their freshman year. Yes the Indians will lose alot of team speed next year(fuller, walker, chames, kohake, etc.) but as you saw in the game against NCC, Koz will be able to adapt his offense around the personnel that he has (Beal, Pouncy), I think the may shorten up the passing game and go "west coast" next year much like they did against NCC.

NCC was my clear favorite to win the title...now it is Somerset....

 

After last week, two things were clear to me. One, a very impressive HC defense kept a powerful New Cath offense in check for most of the night that just about no defense did the rest of the season. Two, a very impressive New Cath defense could not stop HC on offense most of the night.

 

I know that Somerset is a very good team, but IMO, it's not clear as to who wins. One thing certain is that the 2A class is much more competitive than a lot of people were thinking earlier on and has been the least predictable of all the state title races.
