Lol I'd like to see someone try to take that whistle from Mr. Burns, lol....it's only annoying to the people on the other end of the ball....I agree with CGG....it goes off every time NCC scores, of course you would hate it.

Well, that was my second choice...it's not like you have a horse mascot to steal on game day.

Stealing the mascot outfit would be like the movie "Best of Times", although I don't think either team needs to be anymore fired up!

I should've been more specific. The reason the NC vs. Bwood RIVALRY is where it is, is because NC started not only playing closer games starting the 2000 season, but also beat Bwood in the 2nd round of the 2000 playoffs (1st win since 1993 regular season). If HC could pull the upset and continue playing tight games and winning a few then this would take the rivalry to the next level. Beechwood used to pound on Newport Catholic during the 90's, people seem to forget about that.

Pounded? Winning consistently is different than pounded. BW never hung 56 on a newcath Team or won by 5 Tds that I know of.

I changed my mind, I pick NCC to take this one in a lopsided fashion.

Forget the outfit! Actually, I was thinking more like what was done with Neidermeyer's horse in "Animal House"!:D Before anyone sends the SPCA to me...............................I'm kidding! This latest set of posts has at least proven my point a little bit; namely, HC vs. NCC is a rivalry...how much of one is still up for debate!

I agree that HC is on the map. Just be patient on the rival argument. If they continue to give breds close games, their street cred will go up. Just think they were not even playing football not too long ago. Made huge strides in short time.

I agree with that. Newcath has to beat HC to advance, I understand that but I think the rivalry will be felt more from the Newcath side once the Newcath side feels its a serious threat. That will be when HC wins a regional game. Could it be Friday, sure I think HC has a decent team and NCC is not the team they were last year but still a better team. I think they proved that in the first game. In the first half Newcaths d-line overpursued fuller and let him get out in the open he exploited it. Second half they controlled their rush and didn't let him out. That was my non expert opinion but what do I know I'm just a BGPs junky!

Unfortunately, when you take into account where they were when they played them, NewCath's biggest win would be Dixie, IMO. At the time, they hadn't imploded yet and who knows what would have happened if they had beaten NewCath. Momentum and confidence can carry a lot of teams. Of course, it may have just delayed the inevitable by a week also.

I'm going to harp on the same point that I harp on it every time these 2 teams play. NewCath consistently wins in the trenches and on the sidelines. Therefore, NewCath consistently beats Holy Cross. My take on Holy Cross is that they are a program that will beat the snot out of teams that they can "out athlete," because their skill players are very good. They actually, overall, may be better than NewCath this year. However, when a team has a line that is equal to or better than Holy Cross, they don't handle it well. Age of the program means NOTHING at this point. HC has been around long enough. They have had classes go through the peewee leagues to their JR. High team and on through. NewCath will win Friday b/c they consistently make the proper adjustments through the course of the game, and their linemen are better than HC's. HC will break some long passes, probably get some good kick returns, because they have a very good QB and skill players. However, NewCath will consistently move the ball, and that's the difference.

I agree with everything you said except age is not a factor. While it is less relevant than say 5 years ago, it still matters. How many of NCC's starters are part of an NCC football family line or some type of legacy. I am not knocking this I admire it. That said I think the HC program is pretty far a long and has taken strides in the past 3 or 4 years to become established in NKY and the 2A state. I can't wait until the game.:thumb: Let's see the Indians stop the big play and sustain some drive, if they can do this it will be a great game to watch. I'm going to go out on a limb and say 31-28 HC. Late field goal out of Mr. Do It All for HC Kyle Fuller. :ylsuper:

Don't do that, you will be put on double secret probation!

Question for the HC faithful b/c I've only seen Fuller once. Is he better than the big QB from last year?

He is defintely a better athlete. Jerry Arlinghaus was the ultimate competitor and utilized his God given talent to it's maximum. He had good size, was fearless and was a pretty accurate passer. In my opinion Fuller is a much greater running threat and has a stronger arm. Fuller could play RB, WR as well as QB. In fact if he plays at the next level I would expect him to be a d-back or WR. Fuller probably doesn't check down to his 2nd and third options like Jerry did, but his arm strength probably allows him to make throws that Jerry did not.

Having said all of that, I think it's very hard to say who is the "better" qb. It's somewhat like comparing Montana vs Brady.

Oh, you mean the 3-8 Dixie and the 2-8 McNicholas for NCC? C'mon, man! No need to be baited into a "signature win" debate. HC is having a "signature season". All 3 losses are to teams that are in regional finals (including NCC). They have taken care of business against all other opponents in an impressive manner, especially all others in the district not named NCC. The stat that NCC needs to be concerned about is 154-0, which is the total score of HC's last 3 games since the first NCC game! So is HC doing anything different on both sides of the ball? Are they playing angry? Are they listening to their coaches more? Are the coaches adding new wrinkles? NCC has a fine team and should be favored Friday night...no question there. Many have said that NCC is the best at making second half adjustments. The Breds may have to prove that again in order to come with a win and move forward. I would like to see Holy Cross shock the 2A world and get a shot at a ring themselves.

HC has taken care of business against the likes of Brossart, Newport, Dayton, Lloyd, Carroll Cty. and a very overrated Owen Cty. team. 11-1 against NOBODY, a struggling Holmes team missing half their good players. Dixie is 3-8 against teams like Highlands, Boone, etc. McNick is a GCL team and would easily beat HC. 154-0, but against who?

You have never been a coach then. That is pretty naive to think that your players do everything perfect and coaching is to blame for everything. Every coach has a gameplan. Your kids have to execute it. Sometimes your plan can be great, but the players on the opposing side are just better

I know I would and I don't know why anyone wouldn't.
