In your opinion, who do you think is the top point guard in the state?

 

I find myself leaning toward Tyler Mains of Pendleton Co. He just reminds me so much of the Nestheide kid who played for Covington Catholic a couple years back. That is, he is a true point guard, can guide the players when he needs to and is able to shoot the big shot from outside.

 

I also believe that Landon Slone from Paintsville is another that belongs up there because of the numbers he put up last year. I haven't seen him play but I am looking forward to seeing him.

Tyler Mains continues to impress me. He has had 18, 22 and 21 points in his last three games while he also runs the team like a general out on the floor. Not to mention his defense in which he always guards the best offensive guard for the other team. Last year in the 5/3 Classic, he shut down Profit of South, and Walls of Scott County in back to back games that PC won. I agree, he does play a lot like Matt Nestheide from CovCath. They both do whatever it takes for there teams' to win. If we could vote for Best PG in KY, Mains would certainly get my vote.

Matt Walls (Scott County) dominated Josh Mack in Scotts win over UHA. You can't leave him out and consider your rankings legit.

 

I concur with Ty Proffitt being a special player. You can place him on just about any team and they would become a Top 30 program almost instantly.

Walls playing better than Mack in one game does not mean he should be ranked in front of him. I based my list on consistent players and Mack has been that for 4 yrs.

I think Duran Jefferson of Covington Holmes has the best upside out of all the point guards mentioned here. When they all move on to hopefully play at the next level my "point will be made".

I agree the DJ will be playing major DI ball.

Jaryd Crum from Sheldon Clark.They may be 3-5 but he has the best game out of the entire east ky area.He avg. 17pts. a game and can break whatever type of press you throw at him! He has great ball skills and avg.4-5 assist a game. He is also the best turned kid anyone could ever meet.
