Very good player but not #1. IMHO

Trinity High School junior Darryl Hicks has been ranked No. 1 among high school basketball players in Kentucky in the updated rankings from Rick Bolus’ High Potential Recruiting Service.The 6-foot-4 Hicks will play his junior season at Trinity after sitting out last season following a transfer from Shelby County.

Another junior – Derek Willis of Bullitt East – is the No. 2 ranked player in the listing followed by Muhlenberg County senior Lemon Gregory, Moore senior Mekale McKay and Bryan Station senior Jaylen Beckham.

The rankings then have Rowan County senior Adam Wing, Scott County senior Tamron Manning, Woodford County senior Jay Johnson, North Oldham senior Devon Rowan, Lexington Christian senior Taylor Barnette, Central sophomore D’Angelo Russell and Ballard sophomore Quentin Snider rounding out the top 12.

The top sleeper is East Ridge sophomore Ray Kasongo.

The second 12 statewide includes six sophomores: Dixie Heights’ Brandon Hatton, Sheldon Clark’s Justin Johnson, Lafayette’s Jackson Davis, Johnson Central’s Shane Hall and Henry Clay’s Jordan Green and Trey Grundy.

Nice to see some nice young talent in the 15th.

Hadn't heard of the Gregory kid. I'll keep an eye out.

I can't believe I left off Adam Wing.

 

We could probably put Trinity's starting 5 in the top 25. :lol

 

Davis and hall are two others definitely deserving mention as well.

 

I hope Jaysean can play. I'd like to check him out.

Where would Trey Grundy fall in? As well as Mike Smith? I know there are kids from Louisville I am missing on as well. Percy Slade and the other kid from Eastern also....drawing a blank on his name. Kid has a sweet jumper.

 

The C-J coaches ranking came out today. I posted a thread on them and the top teams. As to the Gregory kid I had mentioned the coaches gave him 6 first place votes and he ranked in at #10

With Russell gone, Grundy is my top soph in the state. His upside is off the charts...

I like Grundy a lot. He's fun to watch.

Didn't make my top 15 list. Peaked 2 years ago and he's obviously not going to grow. Willis is #1 if you assess potential at the next level. He has size and skills and looks like D1 material. Hatton looks like D2 to me as he's too one dimensional (shooter).

Can someone answer this question, I heard that Hatton will not be eligible to play his senior year because of his age. Was told he failed one year and was held back another. Is there ANY truth to this? Thanks.
