Trinity could be on the verge of something really big...

Featured Replies

Obviously, there is a lot of football left to go this year, but it is looking like Trinity will most probably go undefeated at 15-0 this year. They play Cincinnati Moeller (who has dropped their last two games and the word is they are going to be resting some starters this week in preparation for the Ohio playoffs) and while Trinity will have to win five playoff games in order to win Class 6A, I think we can all agree that Trinity will be the heavy, heavy favorite in all five playoff contests.

Right now, Trinity is very high in all the national football polls, there is a chance the Shamrocks will finish the year ranked first in at least one of these polls if they go undefeated.

If Trinity finishes the year ranked first in at least one of these polls, they will enter a VERY elite group of KY prep football teams who can claim a mythical national championship (MNC). According to the High School Football Database, only two KY squads have won a MNC since such things were crowned back in 1910. In 1931 Ashland won the MNC and in 1938 Louisville Manual won the MNC. That's it so far. So, Trinity is knocking on the door of becoming one of only three KY prep football squads ever to receive this distinction.

And as a final bit of commentary, I remember when Trinity's schedule was announced earlier this year. Even though I knew they were going to have an amazing team, I felt certain they would lose at least two of their regular season games. The fact they have gone undefeated up to this point is incredible, given their SOS. The Trinity players and coaches deserve a lot of credit in putting together this schedule and in winning all their games thus far.

Thank you for the kind words. All that the team can do is try to win the next game. If they do that for the next six weeks they will be State Champs. If others choose to honor the team with other awards, that will be nice and a lot of fun, but the focus of the team has to be the next game.

Isn't there already threads concerning this? Oh well delete this post. :idunno:

I would put Trinity up against anyone in the country and would think they would win. One thing that could hurt Trinity is that the teams they have played each have a couple of losses. They are big time programs, but none of them are having real good years. It would have been nice to see another team they play only have the 1 loss on the schedule. Ground could be made up if some of their out of state opponents go far in the playoffs. I like checking every week and see how much Trinity wins by and hope they finish #1.

Only one thing...with two byes this week, Trinity can only finish 14-0. :D

No matter what, the only poll I expect that Trinity will be #1 in even with an undefeated season is the Massey poll. We've been a consistent #1 for the past few weeks so I think that's the only chance we'll have at a #1 in any national poll. We'd need some serious implosion by Don Bosco Prep for the other polls to change, IMO.

Anyone in the country? that's your opinion but have you seen Don Bosco Prep, or St. Thomas Aquinas, or Pratville Alabama? Yes they look superior to neighboring states but what about highschool football in Texas, Florida, Alabama, and California? You would be nieve to believe Trinity could beat anyone in the country. Take the top schools from all those powerhouse highschool football states and match them with trinity and you're looking at a lot of upset minds in KY.

If you go to the USAToday mythical matchup thingy, Trinity beats everyone, at home, away and on neutral fields. :D

C'mon Mom, A tiger doesn't want to believe that!

WRONG! not this year my friend Trinity would beat any those teams from any of those states. Their offense is the best of all the top ten teams. They can pass and run at will. they also run a College style offense. Also they Have Quick,Dawkins and Wright. just do some research and you will see that no other Top ten team has a Trio with numbers like them. they also have a top ten Defense. BTW the way I've watched all the top Teams and Alabama and Cali doesn't have a team on Trinitys Level. I'm from Florida and St Thomas wouldn't beat them this year or next. The top 2 Teams Right Now are Trinityand Gaffnee Sc, because they have simuliar Teams and yes they'd beat Bosco. Cause all though their defense is good as any their offense would prevent them from beating Trinity or Gaffnee. I simply gave credit when is Due and normally you are correct about the teams from those States but not this year.

I knew this Trinity team was special , just by watching a preseason scrimmage with Highlands !!

The Rocks need to take care of business , and smash Moeller !!!

I saw the Pratville St Thomas Aquinas game on ESPN. At the very least I think Trinity would play right with them, if not beat them. Yes those other teams are really really really good and are top notch teams, but I think Trinity is also. For all the accolades Trinity has, they have been earned by owning their competition. Naive? no I have watched some of those teams you have mentioned. I would put Trinity's schedule so far right up against theirs. I would like to see Trinity take on some of those teams you mentioned. Mind you that IMO that this is the only team in KY history that could go anywhere and play with anyone. I just think Trinity is that good this year. If you call me naive, then the majority of pollsters across the national High School Landscape would be the same thing. Maybe you are the one being naive.

Beginning to wonder, I know that Quick is only a Junior. Will Trinity lose much from this years team in 2012?

Maybe i am being naive but i seriously doubt it. Trinity is owning neighboring states, until I see them beat an Aquinas, Pratt, Bosco, Gaffney, or De la salle i won't fall victim.

Ready to pony up the travel expenses? :D
