October 21, 201114 yr Two great games so far in this series, I hope it keeps up just for the sake of baseball. Gutsy call to send Kinsler, but that base was stolen on Motte. Molina threw a rocket right on the money. I don't think St. Louis is at a huge disadvantage in Texas because they add Craig in the line. Furcal Craig Pujols Berkman Holliday Freese Molina Jay Punto Really strong lineup. I expect a lot more runs.
October 21, 201114 yr Fantastic stuff. I have to agree with the comments in the in-game thread that this has been an excellent two games as a neutral observer. Late-inning excitement and some phenomenal pitching; it's what I want in a World Series. If you're a coach looking to hammer home the importance of fundamentals and mental sharpness, it seems like you could use the top of the 9th as your example. A defensive lapse led directly to two perfectly-executed sacrifices that made up the entire difference in the game. Like I said... this is really good stuff. When you're talking about one mistake possibly representing the only runs scored, you're talking about really well-executed baseball. Pujols play may have very well cost St. Louis the game.

Never mind that Albert Pujols(notes) created it. This is his clubhouse, where his rules apply and where the term leader is thrown around rather liberally considering real leaders, you know, lead. There, too, were Craig and Freese, both kids themselves, going through the ringer. Combined, Motte, Jay, Craig and Freese have less experience in the major leagues than Pujols. Together, they make about 1/10th the money he does. Also absent were Yadier Molina(notes), Matt Holliday(notes) and Lance Berkman(notes), 28 seasons of major league service among them. They could disappear because of the culture Pujols created, one the organization enables. St. Louis manager Tony La Russa empowers Pujols to do what he pleases, right or wrong, even if it’s the equivalent of ordering the lobster-stuffed filet and sticking the minimum-wage worker with the bill. He will face no discipline. He never does. That is life with Pujols, and the Cardinals’ Omertà means nobody calls him on it.

There is a lot of Cardinal bashing on here and 75% of the posters are actually clever and funny and I can take it because when credit is due, they'll give it. The other 25% just want to be like those posters and try and come up with funny stuff, but it just flat out isn't funny or clever and just kind of sad that they went that far and never give it a break. It's not worth it to hate losers. I discovered this living in the midst of Cubs fans. I was angry at first, but realized that it's just not satisfying to hate losers. Pity them? Yes. Hate them? No. Same thing with Reds fans.
