Tim Tebow is named the starter for the Broncos

per ESPN.

Good now give him a few weeks and lets see what he can do. To bad Denver is on a bye.

Actually the bye week is the perfect time to make this kind of move.

Well for them yes, but I want to see this disaster unfold. :D

I'm interested to see what Tebow does. I think Denver needed to do this at some point to decide what they wanted to do in 2012 and beyond. They need to know if Tebow is a guy they want to keep or cut. And, they need to know it now because Orton and Quinn are free agents and they may want to bring one or both of those guys back if Tebow isn't a keeper. At 1-4, any hope of a playoff berth is gone, so the timing is good.

As a fantasy football manager, I'm distressed. My pickup of Eric Decker has gone from riches to rags overnight.

If I were game planning against Denver now, I'd try to use a controlled pass rush to keep him from running and/or scrambling around behind the LOS in an attempt to force him to beat me by throwing from the pocket. Until he proves otherwise, I suspect teams may do that. He's an exciting guy though. Nobody can deny that. He made the end of that game last week entertaining. On that last play, I thought for sure he was going to take a sack but he ran around forever and then threw one up. I wouldn't read too much into it since SD was protecting a two score lead, and Tebow was not that impressive throwing the ball against a prevent-ish defense.

He was included in a trade I just made. :irked: I might just end up dropping him.

So what does this say about Brady Quinn?
He sucks as an NFL QB. I think we already knew that though.

I think I heard Orton was 6-21 his last 27 starts. That is horrendous. Not saying it is all his fault, but it was time for a change. As 5wide alluded to, Tebow may stink up the joint. But if you have invested some money in to him, you might as well now give him a shot to see if you need to part ways or not.

I don't think this move says anything about Brady Quinn. They didn't waste a first round pick on Quinn. They have to know what they have with Tebow and starting Quinn doesn't do that. Also I think everyone knows Quinn isn't the future and they have to know what direction they need to take in the draft if Tebow isn't going to work.

I agree. This is all about the new regime in Denver deciding whether they want to invest in Tebow past 2011 or not. I'm guessing they feel like they have a pretty good handle on what they've got in Quinn.

Didn't Denver do this last year and it was a positive move, but they had a QB battle and Orton won. Seems like I'd stay with Tim and see what happens. Does Peyton/Ben/Tom/Ryan/Mark/ have to have a battle every pre season?

There is quite a bit of difference between Tebow and those guys you mentioned.

For starters they can throw the ball.
