Shame for you...you missed a great game! I was there and stayed for the whole thing, it was awesome seeing the Bengals come from behind. They don't quit. Andy Dalton had a great second half and really looked promising.

Great to see Benson with 100 yards.

Leonard had a few huge plays on that last drive. Nice to see Gresham have a good game. And AJ Green had one heck of a catch.

Glad I got to see this one live, and one that I called as well.

On another note, I believe I heard that this was the lowest attendance ever at PBS...not sure the number.

Big win for the guys. As someone else mentioned very manageable schedule still. Buffalo was in a toug spot coming here after their huge win, but they can't blame it on not prepariong or overlooking the Gals since they blew a big lead.

I guess Marvin basically admitted he completely botched the two point conversion attempt in Denver b/c in an almost exact situation today time wise he kicked the EP. It was huge too because Buffalo got a FG to go up 7 instead of 8 if they would have missed.

Will CBS get in trouble for showing the final minutes of the game under the black out rules?

Come on man get real. Yeah obviously it was a total waste of time, since you left in the first half. So don't act like it still would have been a waste of time if you stayed for the whole game. The first half it was bad offensive football by the Bengals. The second half it was not, and it was exciting to be there for that 2nd half. It was definitely not a waste of time if you stayed, that is why they play 4 quarters and not 2.

This is a young team but has talent. This defense is pretty good actually, and the offense is going to have great moments and some really bad moments. Our #1 receiver is a rookie, and our QB is a rookie. Both had no OTA's to learn the offense at all. So we need to take it as it, and that is it's a team that will play hard, and give us some exciting moments this year. They will beat some teams they are not suppose to, and they will lose to some they should beat. If your going to be a fan of the Bengals though, this is the type of team you should actually get behind. We wan't guys to play hard, and show some pride. Well we have that with this team, and a team that can win some games this year too.

Bills went away from their game plan. They obviously can't play from ahead.

The wife and I were there. The guy sitting next to me was a Bills fan and I asked him before the second half started if the Bills were built to pound the ball with the running game and hold on to the lead. He talked a lot about how they had cleaned out a lot of bad apples, but never really answered the question.

Defense was very impressive; only gave up 13 against the league's highest-scoring team.

Will one good half get 24,000 more seats filled? Doubtful, but that half sure was fun to watch.

Bengals defense was #3 in the league coming into the Buffalo game. They held Fitzpatrick under 200 yards throwing and held the Bills to 83 total yards rushing.

I heard this stat before the game. Going into last week, the longest losing streak by one team versus another in the NFL was the Bills losing 15 straight to the Patriots. The Bills ended that streak last week. That win made the longest losing streak .... the Bengals versus the Bills at 10 straight. That streak ended yesterday.

I have a soft spot in my heart for Steve Johnson since he is a Wildcat, but it sure was nice to see the Bengals D pretty much shut him down yesterday (outside of his one pretty big gain).

I don't go to too many Bengals games, but is there a reason that the Ohio State Band was there yesterday? I thougth it was very cool seeing them perform, especially the script Ohio. Do they do that once a year or something?

Somebody said the Bengals have the #1 defense now. My question is if the Bengals have the #1 defense what is the Ravens defense rated? The Ravens defense scored 3 touchdowns last night I have never seen a defense score like that.

Not the first time I've seen them perform at PBS; I'm guessing they have a once-a-year gig.

It's very cool mcpapa. I have a pictured on my phone of when they spelled BENGALS before the game. I have a cousin who was in the Ohio State Band for 4 years. I have a lot of respect for them.

What I meant to have said was that when we left, we were pretty disgusted by the level of play, oh and beer prices. Went to a sports bar, saw how bits and pieces of the second half, and it really didn't bother me that we left. One good thing, bar we were in had 8 dollar buckets after a Bengals TD. So WHO DEY:dancingpa

(Sorry...forgot to do this last week.)

Summary:

After Week Three’s loss to the similarly offensive-challenged 49ers, as the Bengals were redefining futility on that side of the ball, I was questioning if the first two performances by Andy Dalton were actually an aberration. I guess maybe he really didn’t have a big enough arm to make the downfield throws, he wasn’t tall enough to accurately read Linebackers drops over the line of scrimmage, and would suffer from significant rookie growing pains. Through the first half on Sunday, there wasn’t a whole lot to change my mind – though in Dalton’s defense, that Caldwell kick-pass can’t be pinned on the QB. Yet in the second half, the D stepped it up another notch, Jay Gruden was apparently informed Cedric Benson’s suspension was actually on hold pending an appeal, and Dalton remembered to stop throwing to receivers whose last names don’t start with G.

Goals Accomplished (In The Second Half):

  • Win two games. At this rate, the Bengals are trending toward a better record than three division winners from last year (KC, Indy, & Seattle). See Brad, parody. Let’s hope they don’t do too much damage to their draft position (like an 8-8 wild card, first round loss), right?
  • Win a home game. Reward the 41,000+ fools and Bills fans who bought tickets.
  • Throw it to Green and Gresham. Thank you.
  • Don’t turn the ball over. Amazing how simple football is when a team plays good Defense, and every offensive possession ends with a kick (punt, FG att, or PAT.)
  • No stupid penalties. In week three, they were their more typical undisciplined selves with 7 penalties, and had three in the first half this week (2 illegal motions, and a holding.) No penalties in the second half certainly helped the cause.
  • No stupid challenges. Amazing. 3 challenges, and they all went the Bengals’ way. Having not watched the game on TV, I have no idea whether any of them were stupid or not. The completely objective Bengals radio broadcast team - including Dave Lapham - seemed to think they were all good calls, so I’ll take their word for it.

Non Goal-Related Comments:

  • I stand by my comment from two weeks ago that AJ Green is the most talented WR the Bengals have had since I’ve been watching. (circa 1986) The passing game should be Green and Gresham on the same side of the field with a slot receiver in between. If they choose not to double Green, throw it to him, if they do, throw it to whomever is covered by the outside linebacker. (your welcome, Jay Gruden. Make check payable to…)
  • Sunday was the lowest paid attendance in PBS history. I attended the previous low attendance game. 2002 vs. the Jaguars. -8° F. Peter Warrick ran back a punt for a TD, and my beer froze solid in the bottle neck. I thawed it under the hand dryer in the bathroom, and enjoyed my subsequent brews at a much quicker rate to avoid the same mistake.
  • Malaluga is very good stuffing the run between the tackles. Put him in pass coverage, and it’s a different story. I don’t think the Bills figured that out.
