Highlands will have an exellent defense next year. The last two freshmen teams went undefeated for a good reason. They will bring a lot of smart new faces to the table. Also, Cov. Cath. should have a great one returning also. They have a heck of a coach and surely enough boys to come out for the team.

Highlands was very young this year and had a great D.Next year they should even be alot better.........GO BIRDS!!!!!! :ylsuper: :ylsuper:

Dixie is stacked for the next few years on both sides of the ball, and our defense was the strength of this years team. I could very easily see us being number one in more places than just NKY next season.

I saw Highlands play early this year and was impressed with their defensive speed. They didn't let anyone get outside. They seemed pretty small up front. Do they have any size to add next year or will they have to rely on speed.

They are always small defensively if you ask me, but they are always good, and always quick. Great team D year in and out. I can't remember what I would call a big bruising defensive front for the birds, but every year they have a bruising front.

They should be just as fast and a liitle bigger all-around.....

Please list the likely starters for HHS' defense next year, and who new will be playing next year that will add some size to the unit? If you don't feel comfortable posting all this in public, by all means PM me!!!! Thanks!

Very Easily?

Highlands reminds me of the Boyle Co teams in Louisville the way they fly to the ball!

How about the Highlands defense of 2004 in Louisville? I think that one was the fastest of any defense I have seen.

This is were they probably will play this year at HHS ; Kidwell, NT 6'0 220, Owens, DE 5'10 180, Roller, DE-LB , 6'0 200, Schlosser, NT-DE 6'0 220, Jurgens DE 6'0 195, Stein, LB-DE 6'1 220, Ball, LB 5'11 200, Hurtt, LB 6'0 195, Simons, LB 6'1 190, Cecil, LB 6'0 190, Fitzgerald, LB 6'0 190, Head, CB 5'10 170, McGraw, S-CB 6'1 195. These players either started or played a considerable amount of time on defense last year. I've probably missed some players so feel free to add to this list. This list does not include the freshmen or players that will surprise some for next year!

Seems like they have very good size in the secondary. Not much of a drop off in size from D-Line to Secondary. I think that more and more teams in NKY are or are going to be following suit and sacraficing speed for size on the defensive side of the ball. I know that since Wagner took over as D-coordinator at NewCath they've moved progressively more and more towards that. They could fly this year as well. I think Highlands success had a little to do with moving their defensive philosophy towards speed.

CovCath's will be super-tough, returning Casteneda at DB, Flynn at LB, a number of other good players, and solid coaches

Very Easily?

What's the matter, have we beaten you before?

What kind of pompous attitude is that? We have a very good D most every year. Look it up. With the kids we have coming back, we should be challenging for a state title this coming season. If you would like to debate this just let me know.
