That's not just the people of the area but the city government as well since he has constantly been trying to put the screws to them as well. I guess this 3rd option would be stupid to expect since he is the most stubborn owner in the league and still believes he is doing things the right way.

I just wish it was that easy. His stubbornness on many fronts has proven that he doesn't give in easy on anything.

As much as I wanted to vote the other way, I think I would be heartbroken if the Bungals left.

I would hate for the Bengals to leave. Its always nice to have NFL football close to home. Now unfortunately, we have to hope they are playing a good team before we actually see a product that belongs in the NFL, but that is neither here nor there.

Ticket sales are only a small part of the equation. It is television revenues the league is looking for. In 09-10 Cincinnati was the 33rd largest television market, only 4 NFL teams are from a smaller market. One is going to lose their franchise(Jacksonville) and one is Green Bay which isn't going anywhere. That leaves the Bengals, Bills and New Orleans who almost lost thier franchise a few years ago. Very slim chance the NFL would pick Cincinnati IF they ever expanded again, there are just too many NFL vacant cities with larger TV markets.

 

Like many things in this area business-wise, the Cincy market is much larger than it appears. The Bengals fan base encompasses Southern half of Ohio, Western WV, Northern & Central KY (Louisville included) and SE Indiana. Dayton, Columbus, Ashland/Huntington, WV, Louisville, Lexington, etc. are all part of their TV market. Not LA by any means, but only the Blue Jackets to compete with pro sports wise other than the Indy teams. Big football markets and lots of corporate support available to the right franchise with REAL OWNERS!!

Cincinnati would never get another shot at the NFL and I don't believe their lease with the county would allow them to move.

It honestly would just be stupid for ANYONE to say the would rather the Bengals move. Cincy will not get another NFL team here. Most cities would kill to have an NFL team, and we have people rather the team be gone? Wow!

I posted in another thread this summer that this ship has sailed. The stadium debate in the mid 90's was High Noon for the Bengals and Cincinnati. The Bengals WERE ready to move to LA then, and the city/county was at a crossroads. Sales tax passed, Bengals stayed and here we are.

 

Bengals can't leave for LA now. And Cincinnati would never get another NFL team if they did. End of story.

Not gonna happen. Nearly 30 million in cap space (yeah, over a third of that is reserved for CP's possible but not probable return); pick up players of questionable character because they're bargains, etc., etc. Two winning seasons in two decades is the result.

 

That being said, they're still the hometown NFL team. Lots of larger cities can't claim to have one.
