October 6, 201114 yr If Missouri doesn't leave, Louisville and Cincy are left in the Big East, and the conference will try and hobble along. WVU will almost certainly be gone, and the conference WILL lose its BCS status. Without TCU and WVU, there's no way to keep it. If Missouri does leave, Louisville is for sure to the Big XII. I believe that Cincy and WVU both are as well. Speculation is that TCU took BYU's spot, that BYU was being a pain and the Big XII broke it off with them. In my opinion, taking all three of the Big East schools is the best idea, as it gives the football schools leaving a majority voting bloc (Pitt, Syracuse, Louisville, Cincy and WVU versus Rutgers, UConn and USF). Don't forget, the Big East football conference and the basketball conference are separate entities for financial reasons-- if the football schools voted to let someone go for football, the basketball schools couldn't stop them. They could hold up other sports, but not football. If I'm wrong on this point, please correct me, but that's how I understand it. Where does WVU go?
October 6, 201114 yr Oklahoma doesn't want to stop at ten teams. The SEC has to do a little dance before they admit them, the same way they did with A&M. In the end, I think Missouri will be in the SEC.

Let's say Mizzou goes to the SEC...who the hell takes WVU? I know they want to be gone but I'm not sure if they have a home to go to. I agree, I do not see even one season played with 13 teams.

Funny enough that I brought it up, but Alabama doesn't want Missouri to come to the West and move Auburn to the East, they want Auburn and Tennessee on the schedule every year. Will Silve get his votes?

October 6, 201114 yr Seems a little silly to reject WVU, reject Mizzou, and then ultimately take WVU. It's not an up-or-down vote. You need 9 votes. I'm pretty sure that both schools have received majority consideration but fallen short of 9 votes to this point. So it's more like the old back-room presidential nominating conventions. Whoever wins will fail a few times.

Ouch...How's this for a possible scenario: Missouri threatens to leave the Big XII unless they go to 12 teams and get a conference title game again. That means the Big XII ends up at 12 either way, but one way leaves one of the three Big East candidates holding an enormous bag of crap. I know who I vote for.
October 6, 201114 yr Another interpretation: Texas gave up part of their Longhorn Network (the high school games, etc) and their token opposition to TCU (I'm pretty sure it's impossible for Texas to feel threatened by TCU) in exchange for a 10 team league.
