I think Coach and Sophie are in the best positions right now. I really like Jim, Ozzy, and Albert, but they'll all get voted out as soon as the merger allows due to how physically superior they are to everyone else when it comes to competitions.

 

You are probably right. If I were ever on Survivor, I would not vote off the strong men. In fact, I would vote off the women. The women always seem to align themselves as the game wears on. The individual challenges toward the end become less about physically strong to give women a chance. End game challenges are usually about balance, puzzles and endurance contests where weighing less is an advantage ... all contests that women can excel in versus those physically stronger. So nothing is gained by voting off the strong as the game wears on.

I love the season so far, but I agree with everyone else with coach and his prayers...it is very over the top when he knows he is lying and uses Brandon's belief in God to bring Brandon close to coach with the finding of the idol.

 

This summer I was the Sports Information Director of the Xenia Scouts, who are a Christian-based team associated with Athletes in Action and were in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League (the same league as the Cincinnati Steam), and one of the women who helped out in the pressbox played college soccer at Southwest Baptist University and I asked her if she played for Coach (he was the head coach there for a bit) and she said yes and was surprised I knew he coached there. When I asked her about him, she said that the character he portrays in the show is how he is in real life. I know sometimes people exaggerate things for the camera, but she said he was just like that when he coached.

I did not care much for Christine in the beginning because of her comment to Coach right in the beginning. But now I am starting to root for her, because she is hanging in there and playing tough. Coach is just about on my last nerve. Ozzie, well, good luck with your plans.

That is pretty cool. It honestly doesn't surprise me at all that he is like that in real life.

I believe in God. I am torn sometimes as to what branch of religion I belong to but I believe in God. What Coach is doing is absurd to me. If I was in that group they would vote me out because I would let them know I am not praying every five minutes with you. Especially if I know you have been lying. God does not have a favorite tribe or a favorite Survivor. They are so over the top and with Coach constantly praying and manipulating Brandon(who I still can't stand) and all of them praying all of the time yet Coach is lying at the same time? Doesn't seem right to me. Especially when he isn't praying for forgiveness or coming clean to everyone else. That isn't what God intended the use of prayer for, IMO. To manipulate people in a reality tv show? Coach is no different than Russell and may be worse as he uses God to create a false image of himself. It has gotten to the point where their fanaticism with God is getting on my last nerve and I hope they all lose. Of course then they'll say it was God's plan for them to lose. Drives me nuts.

I agree completely! For them to pray to God for his intercession in a silly game (regardless of the prize) is a sacrilege. They should pray that no one is hurt, that they compete to the best of their ability and that His will be done -- nothing more. To pray for someone else's misfortune is against everything faith is supposed to be about.

 

If I remember right, the last time Coach was on the show he was praying, not to God, but to some kind of spirit force of nature, or his great ancestors or something. I didn't get the sense of being a true Christian from him.

According to the previews I kept seeing yesterday while I was watching football...looks like the merge is happening this week.

The bold above is why Ozzie's plan is stupid. Christine is not going to join up with Coach's tribe at the merge. So if Christine wins, she would have hooked up with Ozzie's tribe anyway. That being the case, why not send Cochran because it doesn't matter who comes out of the RI challenge between Christine or Cochran, either one would align with the Ozzie tribe.

 

I completely agree with this. Completely unnecessary risk by Ozzie.

I'm pretty sure that it did as well. But, I think they ended Redemption Island at the merge, so no one was on it...then started it back up again.

At the merge the person left on Redemption Island was reinstated in the game. Once they merged, the next person voted out restarted Redemption Island.

Survivor tends to like a pattern. If I was a betting man I'd think that will happen again.

Also, I know I didn't comment much on this episode, but there isn't much to say other than Ozzy is dumb.

I do not blame Cochren one bit for flipping. I cant believe they called him a coward after that. Its a game, get over it. Shouldn't have treated him like scum. I for one have been a Cochren fan since day one. No idea why but I have been pulling for the little guy. The funniest part of the entire thing was after the vote went out to Keith, Brandon says to Cochren, "stay close to me." Like a fight was gonna break out and Brandon was gonna protect him :lol:. I'm glad this season is turning out to be good. After last season's domination from Rob, its nice to see survivor how it was mean't to be played.

 

I also love how Coach seen RIGHT through their plan to send Ozzie to Redemption then bring him back. And even said to Cochren, "I bet you have an idol right now."
