It should be an exciting high school football game. Big games are about matchups and you often don't know how they will play out till the players face off on the field. Here are the matchups that need to be answered:

 

Can Beechwood's defense continue their excellent early season play, learn from the Boone Co. game plan and control the CCH passing game?

 

Can Beechwood's conditioning hold up under a full game of pounding from the huge CCH linemen on both sides or will CCH once again wear an opponent down and enable Gray to take over the game late?

 

Can Beechwood get production out of their passing game against CCH?

 

Can Beechwood's offensive line create enough openings for Vocke to get into the open field?

 

Can Beechwood tackle Gabe Gray in the second half when fatigue sets in?

 

Can Bir shake off perhaps his worst offensive game as a varsity player and get back on track passing?

Tough one for me to pick right now. Whoever the winner is, I believe that it is probably close. I believe that if Cov Cath struggles to contain Vocke, Beechwood has good chances. With the game being played in Park Hills, I believe that the Colonels have a nice advantage too. As I already mentioned, tough one to pick.

He plays RB/Slot on "O" and Safety on "D"

If BW can complete screens to Vocke, watch out. This kid loves to run in space and will hurt you if you take one play "off". I like BW to win this game for one reason. Vocke. He's that good.

I will go CovCath in this one, 31-27 at home in an afternoon game. Blue has the size on the line to wear down a smaller and somewhat banged up Beechwood line. Depth is the deciding factor as Beechwood falls just short.

Covington Catholic has had or will play 4 tough games in a row. I think they will win Saturday. If they don't win Holmes will be lurking, which I would not have imagined prior to this week.

If CCH plays mistake free, they should win.

I would like to see them be physical & use that big Oline to run over some folks.

Use the clock & wear BW down.

That is what they will have to do to compete with Highlands, this would be a good time to brush up on that philosophy.

Vocke has great speed and as the saying goes, speed kills. Don't give him the opportunity.

I think the Colonel O will wear down BW, but more concern over Vocke making it to open field. Young D-backs may have a hard time bringing him down. Going to be a great game with lots of scoring. Have to pick Colonels at home.
