I read online that it was under new ownership, and most of the reviews said it's delicious.

The buffet near my house, #1 Asian Buffet, closed a few months ago. But I still have The Eggroll Machine right down the road, which is very good. There is some excellent Asian food of all varieties up and down Bardstown Road.

I'm eating Thai Siam right now. Definitely not as good as Simply Thai, but still pretty solid.

Anyone ever try the frozen Chinese/Thai dinners from the likes of PF Changs? I almost picked up a couple of them last night.

I've been going to Thai Orchid in J-Town for years and have been hesitant to switch my regular Thai dining spot out of nothing more than loyalty to that place I've been eating at since I was in high school. I have been to Thai Siam twice and liked the Pad Thai (start simple at a new place, you know) but have not gotten adventurous with their menu. Have you been enough to have sampled a lot of the menu?

Like you I don't change my Thai spot, so for me I stick to Simply Thai. Really the only reason I have tried Thai Siam is it's proximity to work. I've also only had the Pad Thai...but since it's it is so close I'll have to start trying a few other things...maybe. :lol: :lol:

We have a little family run place close to where I work, in Oldsmar, called China Taste. I pick up supper there 2 or 3 times a month. Usually the daughter, looks to be in middle school, has her homework spread out on the counter and is working the register, her little brother is playing in the small dining area, and either Mom or Dad is cooking. Best Chinese cuisine I've ever had. The Mongolian Beef and Kung Pao Chicken are amazing.

Thai Siam isn't bad, but Simply Thai is definitely the top so far.

The shopping center at the corner of Taylorsville and Hurstbourne with Shogun out front. It's tucked back in the corner between HH Gregg and Kroger. I think there's actually a Chinese takeout place next door.

All the frozen stuff I've ever tried has fallen far short of what I expected. You may have a different taste preference, but I've not had much luck.

Not only was it pricy, like 10 bucks for one bag (it said it fed 2), but it seemed incredibly tedious for a frozen entree, so I passed.

I'm going to say your "pass" was a good decision.

My daughter & I sometimes go to a Chinese Buffet on Mall Road in Florence. Is there a Thai place very near that? Or do you not know? I'd really like to try a good one just to see.

 

Don't know much about NKY eateries. We often go to Planet Thai in Lexington, just inside the Circle on Nicholasville Road - always had good food there. There's a little Thai place in Georgetown where the food is pretty good but the service is spotty because one little old lady pretty much does everything.

Never tried their frozen dinners. The resraurant itself is average, particularly in light of the prices. You're paying for the overhead.
