Don't put too much into the results from a scrimmage. Last year's defense had 49 hung on them by T and ended up giving up 6 points total the final two playoff games. That's pretty stout.

 

Trinity will destroy every KY team they play this year.

AvidTiger seems to enjoy the Trinity scrimmage win over HHS...Hmmm. When Trinity plays Lou. St. X that game will actually count. Now that is funny! Go Rocks! Fact is the Birds are playing Western and while they may be a very good team they will play against an excellent defensive team. If they win in Ft. Thomas they'll have earned it!

First of all you dont know that everyone will get destroyed by Trinity, second of all the scrimmage was before week zero. Teams by the end of the year can get better or worse. A team like Bowling Green might not be able to beat St. X by the end of the year, but they did early in the season. Yeah Highlands got beat pretty good by Trinity in a scrimmage, but you dont know that Trinity won't destory anyone or everyone. We will see how they do against their rival that hasnt been able to knock them off in the playoffs in a few years.

I think this is a huge step up for Western - to go up there and take them on. Don't see many of the other "publics" doing that.

I wholeheartedly agree. This game will let them know how they stack up in 4A vs. the "best in class" so to speak... reminds me of the Westminster dog show.

Western coach feels they can win, I'd be surprised if he said anything else. He also respects the program at Highlands and looks forward to the trip. Jason picks the Birds but in a close one. Like I said earlier, the depth in the 4th quarter will hurt the Warriors, but the Birds will see some speed. I'd love to see this one.

Any word on whether Jac Collinsworth will be making his varsity football debut tonight? Last week, it was mentioned on the webcast that he would likely be playing this week. If so, best of luck tonight Jac!

 

On a related note, it was great seeing some of the Highlands players who had been out against Trinity and Boyle County because of injury return to action, not to mention account for several TDs in the Dixie game!

Probably so. The only big concern is that they would have to go on the road in the semifinals to Owensboro, Madisonville, or whomever. They likely would be favorites, but that would be a tough game.

Jason picked Highlands in a close one for his image, and smart move on his part. Deep down inside, he realizes what the rest of us realize:

 

1) Western is a dang fine program that has come from the cellar over the years and Coach Boyd has helped take them to even new heights.

 

but..

 

2) Highlands is on a completely different level from Western and anybody else in this state not named "Trinity".

Yes. His 1961 State Championship team will be honored. There was a luncheon today where Homer recognized the FTJFL he helped to start. Impressive man and coach!!!
