Guru , embarrassed ? Really ?

 

The score doesn't reflect that . The # 9 team in the country wins the game 38-14 , while leaving their starters in until 6 minutes to go in the 4th quarter . Embarrassed , is not the proper word .They were beaten by the better team , that's it. The Birds were beaten but they played their tails off and handled the loss with class , just like they were taught to .

 

They will approach the Boyle game , the way they have approached every other game in their long history . This should be a great game , both winning traditions , and both hungry to prove something . That's it !!

My gut says this isn't any reflection on Highlands but rather Trinity may have their best team ever.

 

The point is, a team the calibre of Highlands will bounce back in strong fashion this week and that is why Boyle is in trouble.

 

 

Suppose things don't go as expected and Boyle actually wins. Does that make Highlands overrated this year or is Boyle just actually a team the same caliber as Highlands? Or, will we hear the age old excuse that 'Highlands beat themselves?'

You and me both. If what you say is true about some angry Bluebirds beating us by 3 touchdowns then I wonder if we could mentally bounce back and fight on like we should throughout the season. I worry that losing by 3 touchdowns on August 19th will ruin any chance of us beating Highlands in November. I think we'd be mentally defeated for the rest of season.

You are catching on PP92, that's their game. If they set up the argument, then they can't lose regardless of what happens on the field. They are good, but not that good, but for a school of their size, and they beat a GCL school once, they will play Trinity in a scrimmage, but can't lock it in with the Rocks in a real game, but they will be counting state crowns again soon-mark my words. Trinity's championships aren't worth as much, because they are from Louisville and have advantages, and they are a newer school, and Highlands second teamers are faster than the first teamers who were undefeated from 3rd grade through freshman year...lol.

You are catching on PP92, that's their game. If they set up the argument, then they can't lose regardless of what happens on the field. They are good, but not that good, but for a school of their size, and they beat a GCL school once, they will play Trinity in a scrimmage, but can't lock it in with the Rocks in a real game, but they will be counting state crowns again soon-mark my words. Trinity's championships aren't worth as much, because they are from Louisville and have advantages, and they are a newer school, and Highlands second teamers are faster than the first teamers who were undefeated from 3rd grade through freshman year...lol.

Would Boyle be proud if they beat Trinity in a scrimmage with the team that Trinity has this year ? I would bet everthing I own , including my wife , daughter and deerheads ,( nice deerheads , a big 13 pointer and a giant, heavy racked 8 pointer ) that you would be chest thumping big time ! If you say you wouldn't , then your posts would no longer have merit to me.

 

The reason that I keep bring up the 1st team and the six minutes , is to remind everyone that Highlands was playing and scoring on 1st team and and not T's 2nd and third teams. Thats it , in a nut shell !

Thomas , Highlands , the city , the people , fans and alumni , and all the schools including teachers that strive to make our young ones the best they can be at everything they do in life . So in closing, the next time Trinity wants volunteers to scrimmage them , maybe Boyle can raise their hand , and no alligator arms allowed !!

If we lost to Trinity in a scrimmage or a game 38-14 we would be embarrassed. I don't think there is anything wrong with saying that. If we lose to you guys 38-14 on Friday we will be embarrassed. Our expectations of ourselves won't allow us to not be embarrassed. Doesn't mean we aren't proud of them. Just means we expected better. If we beat Trinity 10-9 or you guys 24-21 then we will thump our chest. We'll do it in the most classy manner possible but yes, we'll be extremely proud at beating the #9 team in the nation or the #1 team in 4A. I don't think there is anything wrong with that either.

I would think if that happens, and I don't think it will, BC will turn it up a notch and be right in the thick of things at the end of the year. Like HHS, they didn't get where they're at by getting mentally defeated early in the season.

True. However, we have never been in a situation like that before. Our response to that kind of a thumping is something we have never experienced. My worry is about the unknown. I have no idea how the whole team would react mentally after such a debillitating loss.

Jesus, give the Highlands and T should play in the regular season whine a rest for a season or two. We know how you feel on that issue. Some Rocks fans posted in another thread that they rarely post anymore. My postings have dropped off the last couple of years also. Why: I get tired of the same old crap from certain people over and over again. Your Highlands should play Trinity posts over and over again fall in that category. Mods, delete this if you feel you have to or send me a warning PM if you need to, but I needed to say what I said.

Boyle's no pushover. Especially in Boyle County. If the Birds win by 3 TDs, then you might as well go ahead and not play the rest of the 4A season. I can't imagine winning by 21 in Danville against THAT black and gold. (And, just for the record...I do love black and gold.) Is it Harrington who wore #6 last year for Boyle, is that the right name? That kid was fantastic on defense. Sure, Highlands is Highlands, always will be. I can't imagine Mueller will overlook any team, he's too good a coach. But for the HHS fans, if you think this is an easy W, don't be surprised if you go down to Danville and that team punches your team in the mouth right up front. They're not playing around, and they have a few state titles of their own! I'd like to watch this game myself.(However, I cancelled a trip to NYC in order to attend JC's home opener, so...yeah.)

The Bluebird fans are the ones that turn folks off for the most part..check out other posts on other teams and see how quickly Highlands folks pile on. Only one SK fan can be as annoying. People come on this message board to say what they want, not just to pledge how super duper Highlands is at football. Wouldn't be much of a board if that is all it was, and that is what it is turning into.
