A question I would ask the author: When did anyone in the Bible sell everything they had in order to give it all to the poor?

A question I would have for the original poster. Have you sold everything you own and given all the proceeds to the poor? Better yet I'll ask you again, are you still taking deductions on your income taxes? If you're better off then any of the poor that you so strongly espouse then isn't it a moral imperative that you give every penny that you can to help them like you would force those better off then you to do?

So according to the article just spread the wealth and all will be good.

So we are to hand over all material things to the godless, amoral, bible ignoring entity called the Federal Government and all will be good? Do not rely on your church outreach programs, do no rely on local charities. Just give it all the centralized government.

It seems Karl Marx was the most moral person ever in history.

The early church "held possessions in common."

So you guys disagree with scripture?

The early church "held possessions in common."

Which is nowhere near selling everything.

Scripture says the early church voluntarily gave. A far cry from what liberals & social gospel people are clamoring for. They want coerced or forced giving (higher taxes), which isn't biblical.

You could give everybody the same, equal amount tomorrow and within five years we'd be back to where we are now. There is a reason the rich are rich, and a reason the poor are poor.

Because all of the Somalia kids are dumb and lazy? yeah, wealth has nothing to do with birth and differing opportunities.

There is a big difference in having no tolerance for those who can but won't vs those who would but can't.

Not everyone that is rich was born rich. You generalize as much, or more, as you just accused History of.

Not that I agree with the article, but not all the rich are smart, born rich, or not.

So you guys disagree with scripture?

The vast majority of ideas put forth in this article have very little to do with Scripture & deals more with writings of folks like Aquinas.

Thomas Aquinas is not just a folk . He is a Saint and a Doctor of the Church and as such his memory deserves respect .http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Aquinas

I agree, just as some poor are lazy, some rich are stupid.
