In a nut shell it's very poor journalism. This is at least the third time I've said this, but I'll say it once more. The question shouldn't be bigger than the answer. Hence Wallace's comment of “it’s really all about the answers and not the questions, I messed up." Even he understands something that rudimentary.

Bachmann’s past statements are fair game, I don't argue that at all, but there's a proper way of doing it. He didn't follow that basic, simple rule.

What you may not know is that in an earlier interview in April , Wallace started the interview with Bachmann with "it may surprise some people to learn that she is a tax attorney". Why would that surprise anyone? Because she's a woman? Do you think he would have said "it may surprise some people that Barrack Obama is a lawyer" back when he was a candidate? I'm betting not a chance.
