June 23, 201115 yr Iphone 5 is said to be announced in August and will incorporate a major hardware upgrade. Ipad 3 will be released in time for Christmas and will have retina display similar to the Iphone 4. Great moves from a business standpoint by Apple. Both will turn huge profits during the Christmas season.

June 23, 201115 yr I am counting down the days to get an iPhone 5. Still using the 3G which is a protected endangered species at this point. What is funny to me is that the 3G is ancient, slow, outdated yet it is still an extremely fine piece of equipment/technology. That being said....I can't wait to upgrade to the 5 in November. Is the 5 still slated for a September release? Kind of surprised they are bringing the iPad 3 out so soon after the 2.

I was reading some of the comments on the link you provided and the only thing I think the entire time was get a life.
June 23, 201115 yr Author I will be getting the 5. I am currently using the Iphone 3G and it's about ran it's course. Great thing is I'll still be able to get about $100 for it on Ebay.

They needed to wait until summer 2012 when all the contracts for the first iphone 4 users are up, as it is no one who has an IPHONE 4 will be able to get it at the contract price of 2 to 3 hundred and will instead have to pay 5 to 8 hundred. I would imagine that will hurt sales substantially.

Last year Apple let people whose contracts would be up by a certain date go ahead and upgrade for normal price, I'd imagine they'll do something similar this year. Plus Apple has launched unlocked Iphone's so that is something that will boost any sales diminished by people not being able to upgrade right off.

June 24, 201115 yr The main reason I want to upgrade is in anticipation of the Iphone 5 being 4G. Although, AT&T is just beginning to upgrade their network I’m hoping by mid 2012 most of their 3G areas will be upgraded.
June 26, 201115 yr I've got a 3. I've been holding off on the temptation of getting a 4 because I had heard about 5 months ago the 5 should be coming out July-Nov.
