He's a heck of a player when he makes contact, problem is that's only once, maybe twice a game. He swings for the fences on every single pitch, and takes more strike threes right down the middle than any player I've ever seen before. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that all he needs to do is shorten up his swing. So one of 3 things is in play: 1) the hitting coach is incompetent and hasn't tried to work on it with him, 2) he's too hard headed and stubborn to listen, or 3) he's too big of a moron to realize what the pitcher is throwing and gets fooled way too easily.

Problem is it doesn't happen very often. He's currently on pace to K 219 times. The MLB record for single season is 223.

Right now he has a terrible idea at the plate. It's undeniable. You can quote all the OPS, GPS, IRS you want to me. He doesn't pass the look test. He guesses, plain and simple. And right now his guess meter needs recalibrated.
