You have to admit though that it was for quite a stretch before that. To your point here are the last 10 games numbers by starters and they are 5-5 in those games. If that doesn't fall on the offense what does?

People keep harping on that. They have scored 3 runs or less 7 of the last 14. When they score they explode for 10 and win 10-2. That's great, but you aren't winning mamy games where you score 3 or less. The expectation is to upgrade SS or LF or throw in the towel on this year.

I agree, especially about the 3 run thing. But take a look at these 10 games. The 4 game stretch 6/4 thru 6/7, they scored 8,6,8,8 and still were only .500 in those 4. According to you, they should have won all 4. Baseball doesn't work that way.

I do expect them to win more games when they score 6 or more than when they score 3 or less.

Wouldn't you agree that you should win more than half, if you score 8 8 6 and 8? I'm sure we can back this season and take any 10 game stretches and prove either point on the offense or starting pitching. Even though the starting pitching is coming into form, if I look back at the entire season at this point, I am more disappointed with the pitching staff than the field players. Now that may not hold true the next few months, and quite frankly, if the Reds have any aspirations for a playoff birth, the starting pitching will have to be phenomenal. And yes the offense will have to try and find more of a consistency.

Yes I would think they would win more than 2 of 4 in that stretch, but I don't expect them to win often scoring 3 or less and they had a couple in there. I got jumped on last week when I said offense is the bigger problem. Everyone likes to throw out year long stats and my point was the pitching hasn't been remotely healthy but the every day players were for the most part. I argued that a trade for a ss or LF would make more sense than trading for pitching b/c they need to just hope the pitching gets better as they get healthy but a few people pointed out that they had the best offense in the NL.

Also it's not just 10 games. The downward spiral stared by being swept in a two gamer at home before the big road trip. During the spiral they have scored 4 runs or less in 16 of 25 games. That's far more than 10
