Conner 4 Covington Catholic 2

Featured Replies

Maines pitched 6 and had 9 Ks.

Has he pitched much this year? Other than Cooperstown mentioning him in a thread as being Conner's best pitcher I don't recall seeing his name a lot.

P.S. He triggered the first two runs with a double.

It said in the paper he had some shoulder troubles this year so coach didn't use him much during the season. I think it said he is only a sophomore also?

How many times do you see a regional semi-final where one team doesn't take infield practice prior to the game and the kids get to make that decision?

CovCath didn't take infield???

CovCath didn't take infield???

Come on. You think Krumps would take infield AND he'd let his players decide?

Where is TOG - Maybe he can straighten this out.

Straighten what out?

Hardly. Still the same as far as I can tell.

Off the field he has a great sense of humor. Not so much on the field.

Krumps is old school through and through but indeed he has a great sense of humor and look at the number of young men who he coached at CovCath, who are now HS baseball coaches.

You can tell a lot about a coach just by the number of former players who come back to watch a game after they have left HS. Not many games go by that there isn't someone who is dropping in just to say HI before or after a game. In fact it surprised me when a Parent of a player on LexCath came up to say HI to Krumps and sure enough Krumps remembered him and told me later he was a member of one of his first teams at CovCath.

Before we discuss the game I want to give big ups to one of my all-time favorite CCH kids Jack Grosser. Kid loves baseball and he has been a great teammate. Sometimes we simply don't know what is going on in a kid's life but I know that Jack represented himself and the CCH community perfectly in some tough times. I'll miss watching him swing the bat and having fun. My ultimate compliment to a young man is "he's a good boy." Jack is a good boy.

Jack's mom, Molly Grosser, passed away last night after battling with breast cancer. Sad to hear that about such a good person, and very sad for the whole family. My prayers go out to the Grossers and for the repose of Molly's soul.

Condolences for the Grosser family during this very difficult period.

If you ever had the chance to meet either Chris or Molly Grosser you know why Jack is, as I termed him, a "good boy." She can go to heaven knowing that.

Eck told me yesterday that after the game and walking off of the field with Jack, he told Jack, been doing this a long time and he was at the top of the good guy list.

Jack indeed is one of those kids you hope your daughter marries one day or your own child grows up and acts like. He never complained, never had a day when he didn't have a smile on his face and there wasn't a day that he wasn't a great teammate and he would do anything to help the team.

His Mom upon meeting God in heaven was told, well done, job well done!

As well as my prayers. Very sad situation indeed. May the good Lord find a way to provide some comfort to Jack and the rest of the family. Thoughts and prayers to the Grosser family and friends.
